No arguing a mechanical fan is efficient and less chance of headaches but my FAL 270 kit has been sweet. The only thing going through the rad is a thermistor probe. Trust me, having been through 2 rad replacements BEFORE the e-fans, I'm really careful what goes on with things attaching to a fragile rad. Unfortunate for Pat, I would find a mount kit to attach to the top and bottom as JMC showed or hell, attach them to a custom made shroud which then helps pull air from everywhere.

Sorry to here about your luck there Pat. I made up brackets and utilized the old fan shroud mounts to mount my fans. No problem here so far. Fingers crossed.
Like Pat said, all in all its still a great mod with the extra ponys and fuel economy. I dont regret doing it.

So if the fan is tight in place, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, right? Eventually, though, I want to make some sort of brakets.

Mine was very tight when i installed it, the weight and the heat stretch those plastic rods over time. So no.

Here is a few more pics I found in My gallery.

If you look closely you can make out the aluminum angle iron that supports the lip in the rad where the bolt goes through. The bottom of the rad is set up the same way.

mind bolts to the radiator.. has a small shroud it came off of a Crown victoria flows 3800-4200CFM

and its an OEM so it deffinately will last longer than any aftermarket

and i have a Mechanical Temp switch that is screwed into the coolant crossover on the front of the intake. that kicks the fan on at 210F. when it should kick on. it wont fail on me like the adjustable ones u can buy from hayden and permacool

faster150, did you mount the fan through the radiator? If so that is what started this thread in that the nylon straps cut the radiator after loosening up... I personally would not mount anywhere except outside the radiator supports.

Just ordered my new dual core radiator from ebay for 140 and some change (shipped)

I probably will play around with some ideas this week while my truck is sitting on how im gonna mount them.
Either that or i can always throw stock shroud and fan on it (pain)

the radiator is a motorcraft so its designed for stock fitment. theres holes along the edges of the top n bottom of the radiator that i ran small bolts through to hold it on

I was thinking about getting e-fans but the more I think about it, the more e-fan trouble threads I see get started
