procharged lightning ! ! !

OK. . . I have D1SC procharger from a previous application . . and am thinking about adapting it to this engine I just had built. I have ross pistons and rods, patriot heads, patriot cams, dynomax headers, and a place where I can get it dyno tuned with the diablo tuner.

My question is. . . has anyone done this ? I think I will hurt some off the line compared to the roots ?! But gain alot of top end . . . maybe ? ?

What is the best manifold to use ? Should I just GUT the roots blower and seal / weld up the front of it . . . keep the roots intercooler . . . . and run the procharger into the throttle body of what was a roots blower. ? Will this screw up my vacuum lines ?

Need some smart people to answer this one !! ! Any smart people out there ?

Doesnt sound like a good idea to me. But,,whatever floats your boat..lol

I would use a stock 5.4 intake-manifold.
Don't damage your roots set up. I have a feeling you'll be wanting to put it back on!

I wouldn't want to have to wait for boost if I didn't have to. Sell the procharger and upgrade your roots blower - It will be quicker than sh^t with the other mods you have.

Im not necessarily attempting to float a boat . . . but considering upgrading for less money. looking at the whipple . . . . 3500 easily ! I can fab up the procharger for almost nothing since I have the blower already.

So you guys think that the D1SC would be weak . . . even compared to the stock roots blower ?

Honestly....I think it would be a downgrade.
Sell the PC and put the money in to a used KB.
You see a lot of them for sale.

Sal at PSP put an gigantic F1 onto a Lightning a while back. It made huge power but I think he snapped the snout...

Here's a few threads about Lightning guys putting centrifugal blowers on thier trucks a while back:

I personally wouldn't do that. The proCharger is more geared towards top end power, which you don't need in an already unaerodynamic truck. Plus the roots will have more power down low, which you do need an an already heavy-*** truck. Not to mention the ProChargers are more difficult to tune.

If you really want to upgrade I'd suggest selling the PC & going with a twin screw, Kenne Bell or Whipple. The install will be much more simple, not to mention you can keep that SC whine.

I know I'm the new guy but I speak from experience.

D1sc would make good power. centrifugal blowers make 10-15% more power due to less blower drag. you best bet it gettin a stock 5.4 intake manifold off a regular F150 for your application.
