New guy with a common problem.

my 97 4.6l had piston slap when it was new. at about 50,000 the cold piston slap went away. it now has 178,000 -no piston slap and uses less about 8 oz of oil between changes at 4000-5000 miles.
I never worried about piston slap because i owned 3 japanese trucks before my ford and everyone one had loud piston slap on start up and they all had 125,000 to 190,000 when i got rid of them.

Did you bring it back? If making that sound when new - I'll be damned if I would just let it slide. That's to much money and to new for engine noises.
I guess I'm deprived - never heard that noise with this truck or any Fords I've owned in the past. I know it's out there tho, but yea , a new truck would have went back.
