You guys are.................

Gay

And my dad is bigger than yours. HA HA HA HA
I'm sorry I couldn't help it. I am just kidding.
I have a 4.6 and it has been great. I have only towed more than 4000lbs a few times and she was working. AND I did it with a 3.08!!!! She did fine ya'll so there is something to be said for Ford Tough. My step dad's 5.4 with 3.73 was a hoss!

Yes that's what I meant Smiggs! The 5.4 that I compared the 4.6 too threw a rod at around 90,000 miles while the driver was running 75MPH down the interstate and this guy religiously maintained his truck! Now like I stated before this truck could have been just a lemon! The 4.6 I mentioned has 126,568 miles exactly and the only thing that has been needed replacing internally was the timing chain tensioner's. Like I said before I wish that I could only show everyone just how much abuse that truck has been thru! The 4.6 Ford I mentioned above is a proven testament of Ford's reliability! It is literally a tank! I'm not saying a 5.4 can't last just as long cause i'm only observing two trucks! I'm sorry if I offended anyone or pissed everyone off cause i'm tired of arguing but i'm not gonna just let everyone push me around cause of an opinion I posted!

You guys still debating even after someone pulled the "cute blonde, with lots of beer and big knockers" card, what the hell is wrong with you people? The 4.6 is good and the 5.4 is good, but sadly they are both underpowered. Oh and about those charger cop cars, don't worry, the vic's will be fine, wait till that mopar tranny takes a sh^t.

You can say that again. Hopefully the 6.0 Boss engine will fix the underpowered problem or the 4.4 V6 diesel might help also. It's time to retire the 4.6 and 5.4.

Look at what the other truck compinies are offering, it's time for Ford to update or at least get close to the HP offered by other companies.

4.6 and 5.4 won't be retired I promise you that, there is too much money invested into them, and the whole modular line. And the boss is still talk, Ford has not told us anything for sure. But I hope to see the day when Ford once again has the highest HP/TQ in a fullsize, but Toyota has a big bullseye on the F-150, look what the camry did to the taurus, but I hope Ford can get it together and put something in the "strongest truck frame", that warrants the need for the "strongest truck frame"

There isn't a stock 4six truck motor made that's tougher than the 5.4L
You need to back this statement up with documented FACTS, not flames toward anyone who disagrees with your OPINION. I am neither agreeing or disagreeing with your opinion.

Does this statement make more sense to you than what I originally said?

As long as we are getting picky about opinions, here's mine:

Since the gasket issues were fixed in 1998, the lowly little 4.2 V6 has had less maintenance issues than EITHER Triton V8. NOTE that this OPINION does not address performance or work capability, only maintenance and durability. I do not claim to back this opinion up with facts, it's only my impression and anyone is welcome to disagree with it with their blowtorch turned off.

Like I said before, your misinterpiting things, you have to be - I know your smarter than that . I don't need to back up common knowledge and waste everyones time. I'll repost what was ment and where it should have ended back a few pages - for your benefit-

The 5.4L works allot less to pull a "heavy" load where the 4.6L will be workings it's nuts and bolts into the ground trying to keep up with big brother.

It's not so much the power that makes a truck a truck. It's torque. The 5.4L is a true truck engine, it has nut where trucks need it. The 4.6L is fine for light duty/ light hauls, but it's really a car motor that doesn't belong in a truck IMO.

Sure the 4.6L will last a long time if you treat it more like car and haul little loads here and there, BUT! The 4.6L won't out last a 5.4L under heavy conditions; conditions that call upon a truck to pull it's own weight; conditions that define a real truck.

There's your answer, hope that helps

What's to back up ? What don't you understand ? Try to make sense this time.

Great! I don't know what happened in your experience, but both engines share identical problems with the exception of the 5four's plugs being over-torqued in 99-2000 at the factory. Other than that "Plug Blowout" is consumer error. Once there over torqued in either model that's it. With torque limited to 16' lbs (max), it's easy to if you don't look it up.

Amazingly out of the 5.4's in my town I only know of one that has had a plug blowout! The people that own an 04+ 5.4 haven't had problems changing the plugs either! Let's just hope when I finally have time and money mine will cooperate too!
