The 99 5.4 that I spoke of in my last post needed a new engine at 90,000 miles with a moderate amount of abuse yet the 4.6 has only needed the timing chain tensioner's replaced at 120,000 miles and I wish that I could show everyone just how much abuse that truck has been through! Yea I maybe should have been a little bit clearer about my statement but if you talk to the local Ford owner's in my town that have owned both motor's and most of them will tell you that although the 4.6 is weaker than the 5.4 they had less problems out of the 4.6 than the 5.4! I'm not saying the 5.4 is a bad motor but from my observations the 4.6 is put together a little tighter! Yet i'm also talking about trucks that are driven like mustangs instead of pulling heavy loads! Now your opinion obviously differs and I don't care! Here's your drugs!

Before you try to pull that pulling heavy load crap on me if you would have read my previous post I stated that they were driven like mustang's instead of pulling heavy loads!
What's going there suppose to prove ? Nope , I ain't goin - keep your money, doesn't sound like fun to me.

Only momentarily - after you broke the freakin thing.. - It has a short recovery time if the sh^t gets to thick.
Other than that, she's working perfectly , in-fact, you just confirmed it, Thanx!
I ordered a F150 SC 4X4 w/5.4L in 1998. The first 2.5 years the truck was used to pull 4-6000 lb concession trailers and place them at Car shows and misc. events covering three states. The truck has NEVER failed to perform and was worked hard for a half ton. It pulled allot of weight, I was worried more about the suspension (rear springs-which were beefed) more than anything. The motor/trans/drive shafts didn't seem to sweat it; as a matter of fact, I'm still running my stock zerkless universals. 10 years later - The truck has 238,000 miles, doesn't burn oil or leak it. It still looks good and it's parked right outside willing and very able to do all over again.
I don't need to go to Louisiana to prove a damn thing to you when proof is right outside. That was just ignorant to even suggest and I really don't give a frogs fat a$$ what you think.
However, I do know one thing for sure , you have know idea what "tough" is and talk out your a$$ - It shows in your posts and its a definite on the meter.

To add to the topic, IMHO the 5.4 is the stronger/better of the two. But I'm not raggin' on the 4.6, it's a good motor in the Mustangs. I just can't see the logic of getting a 4.6 when you can get basically the same fuel effieciency ( and probably better with the 5.4 if you are towing anything with substantial weight ) between the 2 motors. That and you get more hp and tq to boot in the 5.4.
