o. that i did not know. i guess the newer the model, the more crap they try to cram into a shrinking engine compartment. prime example is the new powerstroke. u cant even see the groung anymore...

It seems odd saying $156 for labor is a bargin but with this truck it was. Still had to pay $146 something for the damn champion plugs though.

It's not that there is more crap in the engine compartment. It is the fact that Ford designed a plug that gets caked with carbon build up and breaks into 2 pieces when you try to remove it. There is a procedure to remove them, but it doesn't always work. This results in a special tool called a rotunda tool to remove the electrode shield. The plugs require a 9/16" socket as opposed to a 5/8" socket. The shield has just enough clearance to be removed from the heads. Throw in a little carbon and you got yourself a nightmare! The shield is pressed onto the bottom of the plug. There are new ones out now that are one piece.
