Gas Mileage
I try to use reverse psychology.....
I've got my 04' F-150, my wife's 04' expedition, and my kid's 96' stang(03' cobra motor, supercharged), we probably average 12mpg if we're lucky (we all use that V8 like any good red blooded american should) and we love it!!!!!!
Once a week, filling up with $60-$70 bucks per each vehicle, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!! I laugh at those with the imports and beater cars with their measly 4 cylinders, HA!HA!HA! mpg? what's that??? Live hard, drive hard!!!!
Now, doesn't that make you all feel better? it does me, well, gotta run, to the pumps, getting low. See Ya.

I have a '99 F150 scab 2WD, 5.4L V8, 3.73 diff ratio, and I get around 8-12MPG in town, and about 16 on the freeway. I get about 8MPG if I drive with the tranny shifting at 2500-3000RPMs, and I get about 12-14MPG if I drive with the engine shifting at about 1700-2000RPMs. Truck is factory stock drivetrain wise, and has been using conventional 10W-30 oil since new ('bout 82K miles on it).
Last summer, I wanted to see how many MPG I could squeeze out of it, so after doing some math, I headed down the freeway at 58MPH with 3 gallons of gas in the tank, fully inflated tires, no floor mats, no seat covers, no change in the center console, no nothing, and driving downwind with a 15MPH tailwind, I averaged 24MPG for a distance of about 10 miles.

Would like more mpg...but!
ON a recent road trip of over 2500 miles, I got a lot of 17.1 - 17.5 keeping the rpm's at 2grand in my 99 Expy with 130000. That is about 75 mph. But when i put a small utility trailer on her, she goes all the way down to 12.5 or even 10 in the hills. Whoa Nellie
Oh Well. I still love her.

I just got a nice surprise. For sometime, I have been getting around 16.5 sometimes a little less running arounf the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I have had the Edge for a long time but just recently added custom tunes and on my first tank, running an 87 Performance tune, got 17.16. That includes some pretty aggressive driving. I had been getting 19.2 plus or minus, on the highway, so looking forward to seeing if that improves as well. Mileage is not a big thing with me, but I keep records as a way to see what is going on with my truck.

there is the new Hypertech E-pac, and I have read about the Edge/custom tune you guys around here all seem to have.

. I'm not saying it is smart, but it is what it is. now I am trying to find ways to get better mileage.John
I was getting 12.5
2000 F150 5.4 4WD Ext cab, 84,200 miles.
I recently did a lot of changes to my truck. It was in responce to low fuel mileage, poor/sluggish acceleration, it would die if you took your foot off the gas and slide around sideways cornering. To the advice of many on this forum I replaced: IAC valve, spark plugs (Motorcraft), all COPs (Motorcraft), 2 front O2s (Bosch), fuel filter (Motorcraft), air filter, tires (BFG AT KO) and Bilstein shocks. I cleaned the MAF and throttle body. I am happy to report I carried a ton of gear and passengers on Sunday as I always do and my mileage went from 12.5 to 16.0!!!
I LOVE my truck again!

I drive mostly highway in my 07 FX4 S crew and was averaging 13.7 with the cruise set at 75 mph. This last tank I set the cruise at 65 and tried my best to always keep it under 65 mph and was able to pull 14.8. I dont know that I can go as slow as 55 mph, but would be interested to see what kind of change I could see by doing that.
5.4 Expedition to a 4.6 F150
I have a 1999 5.4 Expedition and average was 14.4 tuned with a supercharger. I was hoping for better. I just picked up a 1997 F150 ext cab 4.6, which is getting a slightly worked DOHC 4.6 soon. That along with a tune, intake, exhaust, etc. I'm HOPING,PRAYING
for an average economy of between 17-20. Keep in mind guys who have Expeditions, that they average over 5600lbs. while an extended 4.6 F150 averages 4400lbs.
I was shocked when I fount this out.
