5.4L Missing then....OMG!

I have a 2005 F-150 with 153,000 miles that went into the shop 2 weeks ago. It started running rough, like a cylinder was missing and I took it directly to the dealer. It following has occured over the past two weeks in this order: the fuel filter was totally stopped up and they changed it, the gas was sampled and it was good. Then they couldn't even get her to start. Next they tell me I have two bad injectors, they replaced those at $150 apiece (the bill was then up to $700 as of then). She still wouldn't start. Then they pulled the plugs and they said they were all fouled like it was running rich, the next day they called and said two of them were stuck. The following day they said they we able to remove the two plugs but wanted to run a compression test...That took two weeks. Today I called and the mechanic says the service manager wants to call and talk to me about the compression tests...now I'm waiting for the call. What is going on here! Am I about to or am I getting hosed?

There's a recall on the 2005 fuel injectors. Ford replaces them and anything the faulty injectors (stuck open or closed) damages. Did you get your truck repaired at a Ford dealer? They would have known this and not charged you.

Even if it's the fuel injectors, you are outside the 120k mile warranty coverage for the injectors. Ford isn't going to help with this.

Sorry, but there was no recall on the injectors. Ford extended the warranty to 120000mls for 2005 models, thats it. But i can´t believe they charged you 150$ per injector. They are like 30$ a pice and not that hard to replace. Good luck, anyway.

Tomclem and Autobahn are right, no recall just extended warranty to 120k miles or 10 years.

Got the ugly news today:
the plug on cylinder #3 was smashed on the tip, something hit it inside #3!
compression on #3 is zero, #4 is 100, everything else 135 to 200 still not great since only two others were above 180psi.

Total labor, parts etc $8000

Um...you can always just drop that truck in favor of a v6 SuperCab Heritage style truck?

Ouch, $8000 is a healthy portion of that truck's worth...

I'm sure the dealer will work with you on the recall letter even though you're past the mileage limit. Discuss it and hold firm on what you know. Call Ford customer service and discuss your situation with them if you don't get any results from the dealer.

they could do an engine swap for less than $8k...... Sounds like they're installing a new small block.
