You should be posting this in the Towing and Hauling forum, not the Engines forum.

With my old engine, troyer tunes, and 33's, i pulled 9k on a gooseneck. no problems, just took it easy, and stopping was not a problem as my trailer has electric brakes.

Pulled a trailer & Bobcat (rental) off the bumper in my lowered Roush....

Don't know the weight, but I'd guess 10k? Took backroads at 45, worked just fine....

I pulled a 2,300 lb boat, loaded with about 1,500 more pounds of crap, and about another 1,500 lbs in the bed. Drove from Ga to La. Held 70 fine and never missed a beat. Of course MPG suffered a bit, instead of my normal 17 on the highway, I got 11.6 MPG the whole way.

I had no idea these bumpers were so strong. While what you did is insane it's neat to know the truck did it

I pulled about 9k for 5 hours. Mileage was around 10-11 and I was able to hold 65 on flat hill's or very mild grades. A quick shift down to third took care of any hills

About 8700lbs. Bobcat B100 Backhoe about 5700lbs and the trailer was about 3000lbs. I dont think the trailer had electric brakes and stopping was a biatch. At the time all I had was a Flowmaster in place of the factory muffler.

The most for mine so far, maybe 6k with no trailer brakes. Truck had 4 pin harness only at the time so I had lights only. Knowing that, I planned braking and following distances alot more obviously. The truck has all necessary stuff now, 7/4 pin plugs and a brake controller for next time but this old truck pulled it very easily. This was my car on a flatbed trailer and that's about the most I ever plan to pull anyways, maybe a Bobcat here and there.

That Bobcat is going to hurt. LOL! I think the lightest one is over 8000lbs alone. Add in a 3000lbs construction trailer that is some serious weight for a half ton truck.

My wife's Explorer Sport, about 4700 lbs. I had the 4.6 at the time. It did not like the hills. Third gear 60 mph was all that I could get... Stopping was the most difficult. No brakes but the F-150. It would push the truck a bit. Handling and stopping are the big issues. When the trailer pushes the tow vehicle you can get in trouble. Sort of like the tail wagging the dog.....

Check your curb weight on the Explorer. You are about 1000lbs high not counting a trailer.

Bumper says its rated for 5000, but I figured that rating has to be maintained under full acceleration, full braking, maybe collision, etc... so there has to be quite a bit of fudge factor built in. At the time I was thinking around 8000lbs, but later realized it could have been much higher. The post above sounds like he actually knows what a Bobcat weighs (I didn't) so I'll go with his 8700lbs....

P.S. Other reason I went slow and easy was no towing package, gotta keep the trans temp down.....

edit: realized the post with the 5700lb weight was for a Bobcat backhoe, not a skid loader, I was a little more insane than I thought.....10-11k? Yikes!

The S160 Skid Steer which is what I see the most of around here at rental places says operating weight of 6100 lbs. So with the trailer about 9100lbs. But that depends on what model. The S330 is 6700lbs. The mini trac hoes can tip the scale at over 10,000lbs.

I thought that the total weight was what was wanted. The Sport weighs about 3900 lbs. The tow dolly is another 500 plus the 3-400 that was loaded in the Explorer.
