The most for mine so far, maybe 6k with no trailer brakes. Truck had 4 pin harness only at the time so I had lights only. Knowing that, I planned braking and following distances alot more obviously. The truck has all necessary stuff now, 7/4 pin plugs and a brake controller for next time but this old truck pulled it very easily. This was my car on a flatbed trailer and that's about the most I ever plan to pull anyways, maybe a Bobcat here and there.

My wife's Explorer Sport, about 4700 lbs. I had the 4.6 at the time. It did not like the hills. Third gear 60 mph was all that I could get... Stopping was the most difficult. No brakes but the F-150. It would push the truck a bit. Handling and stopping are the big issues. When the trailer pushes the tow vehicle you can get in trouble. Sort of like the tail wagging the dog.....

P.S. Other reason I went slow and easy was no towing package, gotta keep the trans temp down.....
edit: realized the post with the 5700lb weight was for a Bobcat backhoe, not a skid loader, I was a little more insane than I thought.....10-11k? Yikes!

The post above sounds like he actually knows what a Bobcat weighs (I didn't) so I'll go with his 8700lbs....
