Tune up results in broken spark plugs and a huge repair bill

Ford should still stand behind what they sell though and there is no excusing their poor behavior in this fiasco. Better testing on the parts submitted should have been done.

Ok so its not Fords fault for the plugs since its the manufacturers defect... but look at it this way. Look at all the other things in the truck that ford doesn't make.. what if the headlights would constantly blow or melt connectors. What if the differental oil put in from factory would mess up lsd's and reck them quickly. Would you think ford would blame it on the manufacturers, or recall it. And thats just little promblems. Were talking about a possible $3,000 defect in some cases when removing heads.
This is just a regular maintainence, at some point your gonna have to change the plugs or you'll see other problems.
A $100-$200 regular tune-up can turn into a $3000 nightmare! Down the road, I think this issue will get some attention... think of all the people who dont even know about this and just go ahead to take off there plugs and.......
THERE SCREWED FOR A WEEK AND HAVE JUST LOST A TON OF MONEY TRYING TO MAINTAIN THEIR VECHICLE
This is fords problem, anything else is BULL$H!+

Not trying to be a nitpicker, but Motorcraft is just a Ford brand name, not a manufacturer. Honeywell is the plug manufacturer. Plugs that are made by Honeywell to Ford specs are branded Motorcraft, their regular aftermarket line is branded Autolite. The same theory applies to other service parts with the Motorcraft brand name - I believe the oil filters are made by Purolator and the oil is made by Conoco/Phillips - all to Ford specs.
Honeywell also makes Prestone and Fram products.

AUTOLITE® MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTIES
For All Autolite® Products
Information Regarding Manufacturers' Warranties
Original equipment manufacturers' warranties remain in effect when Autolite® products are installed and maintained in accordance with the service intervals recommended by the original equipment manufacturer. This warranty may be validated at Honeywell Consumer Products Group or at any authorized distributor.
Consumers are sometimes told by an automobile dealer's service department or mechanic that a brand of replacement product cannot be used in the consumer's vehicle during the warranty period. The claim is made that use of the brand will "void the warranty," with the statement or implication that only the original equipment branded products may be used. This, of course, tends to cast doubt on the quality of the replacement product.
That claim is simply not true. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and general principles of the Federal Trade Commission act, a manufacturer may not require the use of any branded product (or any other article) unless the manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty.
So if the consumer is told that only the original equipment product will not void the warranty, he should request that the OE product be supplied free of charge. If he is charged for the product, the manufacturer or dealer will be violating the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act or other applicable law.
It should be noted that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act applies only to consumer products, and not to businesses such as fleets or government agencies.
Consumer Warranty for Autolite® Products $15.00 and under (retail price)

In the case of damage to a motor directly attributable to a failure of a properly installed Autolite® product that is the correct application for the vehicle, Honeywell Consumer Products Group will pay for the repair to a condition equivalent to that which existed before the failure. Honeywell Consumer Products Group is not responsible for any other damage or loss, and does not cover any type of losses or damages caused by incorrect installation, errors in application or modification of the product or engine. Ahh , that's makes perfect sense - 175 & 430. I'm not sure what 2198 is tho ? Is that a CAN code? An 04 + (3 valve) Injector code maybe ? Looks like I need a more detailed fault list, mine goes as high as 1900.
Thanks
I am in no way an expert here. Just did a simple search for the plug manufacturer.90 % of members here prob know more than me. Just look at the members list. There are computer techs, network admins and all sorts that must like F150's.United we stand.Divided we pay!!LOL. A preacher can stand at the pulpit all day but if no one comes forward what can he do???
P2198 - Lack of HO2S-21 Switch, Sensor Indicates Rich
Most likely a stuck injector set it.
On another note I just took a set out of a 36k mile truck using the PM-3 and the bulletin as a guide...no issues getting them out but they were definitely tight at first.

Well I guess I'll just enjoy the truck till I hit 50,000 miles then ditch it if a fix has'nt been found by then.
