My stockers came out with gaps of .054. Is this the standard gap for the factory Motorcrafts? I'm wondering how much of the gap increased over time from wear.

By the way Larry, I'm glad you came out of your fiasco on the plus side!
Is there any difference in the construction of the Brisk Plugs????

Hey thanks, I just talked to Brisk they said it runs one range colder than the stock plug. sorry guys I am not to dialed in on this. the Plug is a 3vR17ys. They cost around $16 apiece. Have you had any running problems? And Can this plug go more than 30K miles? Wish Ford would get off their duff and at least offer this plug for around $10 apiece.

Be careful, one member who put them in his engine experienced a rough running motor, Champion is suppost to be comming out with a fix plug also, If you can wait, see what Champion comes up with before rushing into something that is not perfected yet.............

Thanks for the info, I have 31k on my truck, not sure what to do. Maybe remove and antiseize the shields and put back in till the new plug arrives.

If I were you I would remove & replace your stock plugs per TSB with the correct NEW FORD Plug, just use antiseize on them prior to replacing them, by the time you have to replace them again, there will be probably several FIX Plugs on the market that are fully tested by different companies..........I plan on doing mine every 45-50 miles, for the duration that I own my 2007, & if they come up with a reliable Fix plug, that one will be installed next......

I believe it was Nolo. He said they weren't gapped correctly. He ended up changing them out for Motorcraft as he had rough idle problems. If you are serious considering the Brisk plugs, talk to Troyer.

Who's to say a one piece plug is the solution..... If the electrode shield is siezed to the cylinder head, there's got to be a way to get penetrant in there to soften it up.

I got my truck back today and took the broken plug parts with me. I've pulled plugs out of the flat head 6 in our yard forklift that always has water in the holes that are in better shape.

I filed my complaint with the NHTSB.

At least a one piece design has alot less chance of breaking apart in the head........

cornfused?

I just joined this forum and need to get caught up on all of the problems I may have in the future on my 02 5.4 f150, it currently has 80,000 on it, I too have planned on changing my plugs at 100,000, but after reading about your horror story I'm thinking I better change them tommorrrow, what exactly happenes to cause the plug to break, is it sticking in the head, or is the removel of the coil pack causing the damage, and what part of the plug breaks?

The broken plugs are only in the 2004 and newer 5.4 3v engines.

I think the Brisk plug has a more conventional tip as opposed to the bridged tip on the Motorcraft. They are good for 25,000 miles.
