They will tick at idle and maybe up to 1000rpm if they are weak.

Update

well I filled up with 93 octane and the rattle (detonation) went away. Took about 10 miles to notice it. So looks like I will be running 93 til i get a tune. The only rattle i get is when im on a hill and floor real quick and I get a slight rattle. I think it still does it cause of the high airflow coming in and the fuel not keeping up. Plus it being cold out too. I dunno.

Let me know what yall think

tensioner guides?

Mine used to chatter when I would get on it. Usually after 4K RPM.
After I switched to 10W 30 Mobile One Syn, no more chatter.
160K now, runs awesome!!!!

low fuel pump volume or pressure will also cause detonation

How about a fuel filter change? I have owned the truck for 35K and it has never had one that I know of.

Definately.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ht=fuel+filter

I got rid of pinging by changing the fuel filter, which was in there for 146k miles.....I got a thread around here somewhere about that.

The explanation is right above your post here.
