jbrew. Just out of curiosity, why did you choose to go with COP's instead of the original 2 coil packs??

ALL 5.4's have COP's - Coil Packs weren't an option.

Yup and I would of known that if I took a sec to read your stats. Sorry about that. So I took the truck into the Ford dealership cause I'm tired of throwing money at this truck. They had it from 8 till 2 and the verdict is...there's nothing wrong. No misfires, nothing out of spec, has all the up to date programming, etc. Then why does it seem like there is something wrong to me?? Maybe I'm just crazy. I don't know. I just believe that I should feel a little bit of power (put me back in my seat if you will) when I put it to the floor. It's there, I know it is. There's just something holding it back...somewhere. And I'm pretty sure it shouldn't umm, bog down if you will, when shifting into O.D. Not a trans issue, everything with that is fine. Seems like an engine prob. What are your guys thoughts on a plugged catalytic converter? Also is there something that causes excessive smoke out the tailpipe? No, not oil. Just smoke.

Yea , that's steam - condensation . Same principle as to why you IAC is singing a song ... Click that thread link I posted in your other thread lol.

These trucks don't run that hot to begin with - They take awhile to heat up, when it's real cold outside, moisture tends to collect under the valve covers because it doesn't have time to completely burn off. If you make allot of short trips - That moisture compiles - I think it breeds

So , yea, that's steam your seeing. Just moisture build up burning off. Heres my truck sending smoke signals lol -

Just got a cold air intake for now. I'd like to add magnaflow dual exhaust next. What about plugged catalytic converters? Is there a way to check them?

Yea, well, before you add anything, you need to get it running better first.

What kind of maintenance have you done lately ? What have you done to it in the last couple years. Plugs ? What kind?

How many miles on it? what's been replaced ? Ignition?

O2's? MAF cleaning ? How do you take care of ?

You have to spill the beans if you want help ..

Alright. Well last summer I had a local mechanic shop do the plugs. I told them I wanted the same type of plugs put back in. If they did or not, I don't know. Then, funny story, when I left the place I got about 3 miles down the road and the truck started kicking and bucking all over the place. The check engine light came on and started flashing at me and all kinds of smoke came pouring out. I took it right back and the mechanic said I had a cracked plug and that it sometimes happens when their replacing them cause their so hard to get to. So they replaced it. About a month later I did the wires. Cleaned the MAF. Then replaced the Egr Valve. Then the IAC. Then one O2 sensor (passenger side before converter). Then DPFE Sensor. Then replaced the battery. Then took off and cleaned the Throttle body (packed solid with carbon). So again thats:
1.New Cold Air Intake
2.New Plugs (not sure what kind)
3.New Wires
4.Cleaned MAF
5.New Egr Valve
6.New IAC
7.New O2 sensor (passenger side before converter)
8.New DPFE
9.New battery
10.Removed and cleaned throttle body and Egr ports
11.Oil changes about every 4,000 miles

Truck has 130,000 miles.

Good Job man

Do you have an oiled air filter ? If so , how many times have you cleaned the MAF sensor after the last air filter cleaning + re-oiling ?

What type of CAI do you have?

Yes I have an oiled air filter. I got the CAI off ebay, some knock off brand. I did clean the MAF after last cleaning and re-oil of the air filter.

Oil from the filter can contaminate the MAF Immediately after re-oiling. I would clean the MAF sensor again.

Been there done that. -

I'll give it a try tomorrow. Do you know anything about checking the cats to make sure they're clear? How do I do that?

Your Cats are fine . You would have efficiency codes if they were bad.

Thats what your rear O2's monitor. I changed my cats @ 220,000 and the old ones where clear and surprisingly clean inside.

Here is another question...last night when I got home I turned the truck off and I could hear a glug, glug, glug sound. Kinda like if you take a full milk jug and turn it completely upside down. It actually lasted for a few minutes. Is this normal? Was it just the sound of the coolant draining back to the radiator? Shouldn't it stay in the system? Thanks for all the help and for listening to my blubbering.

That's air in the heater core , you have to bleed the system. It doesn't hurt anything.
