Plug changing tricks?

Yea , mine was easy too . Aren't you the one who talked me into it?

I had to make my own pressure plate - I screwed mine up the first time , Augered the holes to big and it SLAMMED into each gear lol.

Mine has quite a few different bodies - but it was easy.
Shifts freakin sweet -



I guess I should post this in the tranny forum - oops!!

OK got some info. It threw a code this morning on the way home from work. Now the mis is in Cylinder ...... #8. The one that has the plug boot tore up on it. So it is starting to look like the problem is the connector for plug #8, which is almost sticking out of the remainder of boot, is arcing against the intake, head or something near by. Which in turn is causing the misfire, as the energy is not going to the plug. So this aftenoon when I wake up I'll be trying to get the remainder of the left over boot out of the hole. Then replace with new plug and wire. And, cross my freaking fingers!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the help thus far. Hope this will fix the problem. I did notice that only 7 of 8 tests were done when I checked the code. But I hope that P0308 is the only code I have.

Originally yes. Now it is P0308. After plug change it is a P0308. Which is the plug with the torn plug boot. Getting ready to head out and try to get the remainder of the boot off.

NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO.

I finally was able to get enough of the remaining boot tore up and blew it out with an air line. Put the socket on it, and WaLa. Out it came. Drove around, and it was 80% better, but still not right. Drove about 5 minutes and it threw code P0306. Pulled over to side of road, rechecked plug connection. Sure enough it had pulled loose when I fished the new wire through there. Popped it back on, cleared the code. Now it runs with zero hesitation, no stumble, nothing at all. Just like it should be.

I still need to change fuel filter, oil and filter, and ari filter. Will wait until this weekend for all of that. But, I got the Major PITA fixed.

Case closed.

I would recommend to everyone driving a f-150 with these motors to pull you plug wires and put dielectric grease in the boot. Will save you or someone else alot of headache, backache, armache, etc in the future.


Thanks to JBrew, Klitch, anfo, UkNigel, and Willow, for all your advise. Every bit of it came in handy at one point or another.

You wrote about oil on number 4 plug, it could be your valve cover leaking then running down in plug whole, or you may want to check you heater hose lines above it.Well I changed my plugs, and number 4 was wet and slippers, well I though oil.Well after a few days is mis fired again on number 4 pulled boot and plug and was wet again, it was slippery but not like oil, turns out it was antifreeze with some oil.Looked around and when engine got warm, the upper heater hose would leak ,and it drips straight down on the #4.

Yea , heater core lines are good for that - They only leak when your not looking..

AND, it's hard to tell because everything dicipates that quick on the outside.
