Okay , yea , I had to get one from Auto Zone once during a 600 mile trip when my stocker went out on me down the e-way. Damn thing was down shifting into second @ 80 mph . I hit the next exit and picked one up from Auto Zone and there's didn't have bushings - but it still works

I have never done this mod because I have not been able to loosen the screws on the TPS. Guess I will go to Sears tor some tools.

It takes an impact - It even says to use one in one of the manuals, I forget which one.

But ,yea , A little cordless impact does the trick..

Is are you supposed to get a bite on the lower screw with the impact then? I had a hard time getting a halfway decent one with the screwdriver!?

There's an opening approximately 7-8 inches out from said screw. Using the proper length bit while inverted, lower cordless torque driver into opening. Insert bit end into screw head.. Hit rewind

^^^^^^^^^^^ Works for me. Check to make sure that the philips tip that you use is a perfect fit. There a many sizes including reduced clearance types that will make stripping nearly impossible.

Yea, I'll tell yuh, I have quite a few high end drill/hammer drill motors and just one cheap little cordless Ryobi Impact that's about 3 years old. I use that little impact gun for just about everything besides drilling.

My TPS Phillips head bolts aren't in the best shape from attempts made in the past with screwdrivers, trying to break them loose. Since I've used that impact on them , haven't had a problem.. Handy little gun

BTW - I think there only like $30 at the Home Depot. :santa:

Speaking of mangled screws can you get replacements at the hardware store? Or are these dealer only?

It's worth a shot. From what I remember , the hardware doesn't carry much in metric.

Wellllll - did you do it?? I just went out and stuck the meter on mine . It's almost 1.02 - DANGGG. I have to drill it out or use a knurler - maybe a little 1/4 " carbide.

What did yours read?

The consensus is that the max reading that you want is .99v. Poke a paper clip through the back of middle terminal of the TPS and connect it to the + lead of the multi-meter. Connect the - to any ground. Take your readings. FWIW the PCm learns what the last voltage was at idle and uses that as a base. So adjusting the TPS seems like a waste of time.

Well , Idunno - Might as well get down to .99 - it won't take that long . I loaded up the drill motor with a Rat Tail File about the same size as the hole - Yea , didn't take long. I replaced the screw head bolts with 7mm - Same thread as the COP ear bolts..

Got it down to .99 and tightened her up - Idle went up to 850 rpms - Soooo , I rebooted and it's down to 800 now . That's unusual for this truck . When re-connecting the battery after a long period of time (I disconnect both sides always) it didn't take long to find 700rpms @ idle..

I guess I'll see what happens , haven't went anywhere with it yet..
