tuttering/Power loss at 3500RPM *Fixed*
Several weeks ago, I posted my problem with my F-150.
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=310673
The problem was the Accell coil packs.
Due to travel and work, and I bought a new BMW Z4 Roadster.. I could not do any real troubleshooting until today. On the way home from work, I stopped at AdvanceAuto and picked up some new coil packs for my 4.6L.
Put them on (using the same plug wires) and went for a drive. DAMN, the power is back, acceleration is back and NO MORE SHUDDERING at 3500rpm....
The guy at Advance asked me one question.
"Does it take what seems like an extra turn or two to start up? " Then he says that I did everything I could have done, but "that extra turn or two" is an indication the coils are going, but not bad enough to throw a code....
It even idles better now....
I guess the coils were breaking down internally under load, since when I removed them, I saw no signs of arcing or damage....
