...found on road dead

Help, my 1998 f150 5.4 4x4 stalled while driving and will not restart. Engine cranks normal but won't run. Won't start when given a shot of carb cleaner [the kind you can drive out of the woods on when your fuel pump dies...don't ask how i know] All fuses and relays checked good and the fuel pump runs when you turn the key[also full tank]. A friend told me to stick a crank sensor in it but that just lightened my wallet. [I have .04-.05 volts at crank sensor, mass air flow, and camsensor with the key on] Any Ideas?

Edit: also no codes or check engine light

+1 on the fuel filter and checking to see if your Check Engine Light works in the run position..

Keep in mind you only have 6 seconds to start or it's not going to - PCM shuts the rail down after 6 seconds..

Sounds like the power supply to the ECM is blown or the ECM has died.

Yup, key on power on each side of each fuse [under dash and power distribution box] checked inertia switch not popped. wiggled ecm plugs no change. If the 175's are the big in line fuses on the firewall than i've been there too. Also seems that the eec power relay, horn, fuel pump relays are all the exact same part number[in power distribution box] so i switched them all around to no result[they also all work in the horn relay slot i.e. the horn beeps]. Thank you all for your continued help

While checking all the fuses again i found my problem. bad connection in fuse box under/in dash. while checking fuses on the right side of panel i heard a relay click but i still had a no start until i pushed on the fuses then the check engine light came on [had key in run position] when i stop pushing on fuses truck stalls. I guess i should work in the dark when the neighbors are quiet more often. thanks for all the help guys!

tap the relay with a screwdriver while someone turns the key, if the truck starts then your relay is bad.
(you can test a fuel pump relay same way, thats how i know that)

Found it. fuse/location #30 in the dash panel 30amp radio nosie capacitor, ignition coil, PCM power diode. Fuse is loose in its hole. looks like someone has been in there before and their fix was to bend the fuse legs to make contact again. I'm going to make a more perminant fix!
