Heavy duty alternator delete

Hi everyone, I have been lurking for a while now. This website is great! I recently purchased a 2000 F-150 4.6L 4X4 with high mileage. It was a fleet truck for United Rentals. It runs great and it is very hard to tell it has 187,000 miles on it.
I think my alternator took a crap last night on the way home. On the way into work I heard a growling/rattling noise a couple times and then when going home the battery light went on. Thank God for a good battery as it was dark out and I had a 40 mile drive! Shut down everything but the headlights.
My question is on the original window sticker that includes the towing package the heavy duty alternator was deleted. Why would it be ordered like that? I don't think they were trying to save money. Any ideas? I am trying to get a new one but don't know which one I should get, the 95 or 130 amp.
Jim

Thanks for the replies. So either will fit? There is a small difference in case size I guess.

Thanks, I'll get the 130 then.

I'd love to know why it was deleted from the towing package originally. I wouldn't think someone could delete certain options from a package.

Fleet buyers can generally call shots like that.

Do you think they deleted it just to save $$?

Question

HI!... Go down to your local ALT rebuilder and get a 200 AMP alt for a 4.6 CROWN VIC Police car. That's what I did and will never go back to the 130 AMP. Bolts right in and the only mod you have to do is replace the ALT cable with a 1 gauge one.

I don't think I want to add that much juice to this old dog. I'm just hoping she keeps running with the mileage it has!
