help please

How to tell if I have bad coils on my 2002 f150 supercrew with a 5.4 engine.

Thanks.

It shutters when it is in overdrive around 45-50 MPH and also hesitates when you first give it gas. Also some times when I start it the RPM and the Speedo max out and then come back to normal.

The shudder at 45mph could be related to tired tranny fluid. My 2000 did this and a flush and fill cured it.. (at about 70k miles).
And isn't the gauge "sweep" normal?

Shuddering in OD at those speeds can either be the tranny or a low grade misfire. Have you ever gotten a CEL? If so, go over to Autozone and get the codes read.

I thought that the speedo and tach sweep only when the battery was getting low. Put a voltmeter across your battery terminals and check the voltage.
