Aftermarket Coil on Plugs (COPs)
Second problem, aftermarket COPs. Again will keep the sponsor nameless as I am not trying to smear anyone just tring to resolve. Recently purchased the Granatelli COPs. The COPs came several days later and were in a box marked Mustang 03-06. I called and spoke to the sponsor they assured me these were the correct as I described what I received. I told them the box had been opend and non of the paperwork inside said Grantelli. Again they said this was normal and that they physically check each COP before shipping.
Ok Great, next I took the COPs for installation by a trusted shop that is ASE certified. They attempted to put in and explained these were the wrong part and showed me what OEM COP looked like, specifically that the bolt hole and cable connector were in different location from the stock, OEM COP. Thank you, $180 later and they put back in the stock COPs.
Called the Sponsor, explained the situation, was told "they were the right part and would fit and no one makes a quality Aftermarket COP with OEM fit for the F150" and that with some wiring changes these would fit. So as I am not happy about being told of the fittment problems after I have bought them, I asked for a refund due to the fact I cannot put them in and my mechanic cannot put them in, they are in a box marked Mustang , and they are not F150 OEM fit. I was told no they are now considered a used part. Keep in mind that I attempted to put them in at the mechanics and had to remove them due to bad fit before they were ever fired up.
So Sponsor says he will however replace any damaged ones from the shipping. I send them all back and get 3 new ones and the rest shipped back to me. So after all this I am forced to sell them or attempt to install. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what should I do, I can follow direction, just don't know if this sounds right or how to install. thanks.

Thanks hindsight 20/20 will do. wanted to maximize bolt ons. But, with 45K haven't had any problems with the stock COPs yet. I had heard they were junk, however and need to be replaced, the earlier the better.
What is the Part Number on the box? Do you have the 4.6 or 5.4 engine? A 3 valve 5.4 doesn't use the same COPs as does the 4.6 2 valve. The 05-08 Mustang has a 3 valve engine and they should fit the 5.4 3 valve.

Part number is Vendor Part number? GMS-28-1812CP
Label says 2005-2007 COP Connection Kit W/T Performance Coils Mustang GT
I am confident it is for 3 valve 5.4L the issue is the fit is not OEM. And this was not discussed or mentioned when I purchased the product. My stock COPs are 180 degrees between the bolt hole and the connector socket. These aren't and the wires will not reach. My mechanic would not put them in because the wiring harnesses will not reach on the Passenger side I believe. Again the box clearly states that these are for 05-07 Mustang GT and even the vendor admits after the fact that the wire harness must be modified. It was the Vendor/Sponsors oppinion that no one makes a COP for the F150 yet with OEM fit, again after the fact and after he told me he would not refund my money. Sadly they told me they would fit and I attemted to have them installed to no avail. So looks like Ebay. Thanx..

Hi.
Perhaps try contacting Granatelli directly and seek independent confirmation - as I can find nothing that suggests any mods are required.
Granatelli's site shows that part number to be applicable to all 3V's. No FYi or tech tip on wiring changes....
Are the part numbers on each coil?
Several folks here are running these COP's - I can't find any posts relating to an install issue either.

IMO - The COP's with the best track record are the OEM's that Global sells. I know of two people around here that I installed them on about a year ago that hasn't had a problem and many on this site that has had good luck with them.
There only $96 for a set of 8!! Warranties for 1 year..
To many problems with after market coils - you'all can have that overpriced junk and good luck with em - It's getting to the point of being very lucky to get 8 good ones in sequence nowahdays ..
EDIT: I don't think Global sells the 3 valve COP's - The best 3 valve COP's to date are the MotoBlues from RPM Outlet (only place you can get them)...

That was a mouth ago and Have not heard from them , when you get the coils there is nothing on the coil no part # nothing so you don't Know what they sold you

Thanks - this is good stuff as I was contemplating these things myself.
I think I just changed my mind, lol.
For that amount of coin, quality should not be an issue.
Those little quick probes work awesome for checking coils at all loads. You have to run a wire thru the firewall- Clamp probe to coil and monitor the pistol light during the drivecycle - Dead givaway when you have a weak COP and NO MIL..
