Engine looses power on takeoff

I have a 1997 expedition xlt with the 5.4 triton with 148,000 miles This has only happened twice yesterday was one of the times I go to take off from a stop sign and the motor acts like power is being robbed from it like it is going to die and then if I let off of the gas the power comes back and it is OK

It is a very wierd feeling not sure what it is, it did it once yestery in about 20 stops and only once in 90 miles I am not sure what is causing it, is there anything I should start to look at?

Jim

clean the mass air flow sensor, or replace it. do a search for MAF cleaning and you will see how it works.

Also make sure it is still plugged in... who knows, some vibration might have partially disconnected it.

Could be the beginning of a throttle position sensor problem. Go to AutoZone and have a scan done even if you don't have a check engine light on. There could be a pending code that shows up before the check engine light comes on.
