Well I had a scary incident last night. I was goin home, getting on the highway I layed the pedal down, well the headlights dimmed and my battery light came on, then the cab filled with smoke!!! I locked up the brakes and popped the hood, it was electrical. Had no idea where the smoke was coming from, then I saw the alternator was red! It melted the back half of the alternator and the cable melted off too. I ripped it off and tied it up, and made it home, headlights were almost off they were so dim, voltage was 10.1 when I pulled in my driveway. This is what it looks like. I also decided to clean my intercooler since the new alt. wont be in until monday. It really wasnt even that dirty.
What do you think caused this?
I stripped the rest of the rotors too.

Holey
You run her thru a meteor shower or something. ???
That can happen if you bypass the 175 amp MEGA's. Still have yours on?

You might want to upgrade to a 130 now, here's one post I found from a Mustang Forum - The 130's are nice!! I see them on ebay quite a bit.
Running a 3G 130A alternator at 30% capacity is much better than running a 90A alternator at 60% capacity. A 3G alternator will last a long time when put on "light duty" use in a Mustang. This alternator is made to run winches, light bars, spotlights, etc. It has a tough diode pack and voltage regulator, improved bearings, etc. It's twice the alternator at only 25% additional cost.
