the truck can handle it.. i have just about every external bolt on possible along with the predator programmer and i have a 125 shot i have been honestly through about 30 bottles and never had a problem but if you use the bottle get on a dyno and get a custom tune or else youll be picking up shards of metal if ya know what i mean... less timing is big

running nitrous without a custom tune would be stupid. in fact there are many safer ways to make a truck fast. unless you plan on racing your truck at the track, i would stay off the bottle.

Personally... running NoS is stupid in some regard. Yes, it does bring out the HP in a N/A way. But, I'd rather throw the money in to F/I, because once F/I is in, you get all the "boost" you want.

Would I do NoS in my truck? No.
Would I do a F/I mod in my truck? Yes.

But that's my own opinion.

I'm running a blower and nitrous. But I also have a built block!
I would think in order to run a 200 shot on a stock truck. You would also need some fuel upgrades. And some kind of controller.
If you hit your rev-limiter wile your spraying. Plane on buying a new motor.

The 04+ have the MAF in the intake plenum. Spraying in front of the MAF is new to me. An other thing to consider is fuel addition. A dry kit needs to fool the PCM into adding fuel as it uses a returnless system. The PCM controls current to the fuel pump to maintain fuel pressure. A wet kit will take care of this but will spray fuel past the MAF. A search of the Mustang boards might yeild better results.

I like a wet system if your going for big numbers and forged pistons at least. You know the story.......forged pistons can make a bad tuner look good

For every 50 hp increase with NOS take out 2 degree's of timing and your engine will love you but your tranny may pack his bags and leave

On a stock motor you'll have to draw the line somewhere and tell yourself not to cross it. But the Nitrous Jet God's may win, you know 50 is OK but 100 feels better and 200 is getting there and 300 should feel my need for speed and then BOOM........... Nitrous is a drug for us HP junkies.

Whats funny is I'm so use to spraying big number in my 302 I swear there someting wrong with the motor if I'm not spraying You get use to the torque and it's like having a big block up front.

Like any power adder engine wear and tear will increase with use or should I say fun factor. So keep that in mind and upgrading to a 20lb bottle will increase the fun factor too.

Bottle pressure and bottle temp will affect HP too so a bottle heater helps to maintain a 900 psi pressure when it's cold outside and even when the bottle is starting to get low.

If you go with a dry kit I think most stop around 150 hp or less due to the limit of the stock fuel pump/injector's. You can run into a flow or duty cycle problem so if you limit your HP, retard the timing your engine/tranny could live for a long long time, but there's no guarantee.

Another thing to know is not to hit the rev-limit on nitrous and no at idle hit of the button either. I'd say if your not sure then hit the dragstrip and walk the pits, you'll run into a few nitrous user's.

I love being bottle feed

I don't know what the stock timing is on these things but you should be able to run a 50-75 WET shot maybe even up to a 100 shot on the stock tune. i don't know how many horsepower the injectors, fuel pump, or MAF are good to. just get a set of cooler burning copper plugs gapped to .035 and spray away. When you are spraying just be sure to burn premium fuel so you don't get detonation.

I tend to spray the neighbors trees, their tires, and spray their annoying little dog when he comes near. i eat lots of asparagus before hand.
The truck is'nt a big boozer, does'nt take to the bottle well. its been on the wagon since that one summer night it came home wearin a lamp shade and a leapord print thong.
No other kind of sprayin here!

HI!... Only the DOHC 4.6 COBRA crank is forged. PART # M-6303-D46. It was never installed in any of the SOHC motors. All other 4.6 cranks are cast.(F65E) The 5.4's had forged cranks from 97 - about 2001. Then FORD started mixing in cast cranks, so after 2001 it's a 50/50 chance. All LIGHTNING and NAVIGATOR 5.4's got forged cranks. All use crappy cracked cap technology connecting rods. Lightnings got forged pistons. All others have hypeutectic pistons.

Some good reading :
