3/4 turn with the wrench after snugged per directions . I can never get them off by hand . I just go with what's recommended , never had a problem.

I put all of mine super tight. I'd rather fight with it to get it off than have it spinoff while driving.

I think the gripe is usually with trying to break the filter free as it comes from the factory. Seems to be way too tight.

And y'all can go ahead and start the flames now, but I love my "stealership".. Oil & filter change and rotate the tires, check everything that needs checking for $22 and change. In and out in an hour.

Yeah, I realize that's not the norm, but one reason I chose this dealer was their rep for customer service. They haven't disappointed me so far.

Chyya, I've done PLENTY of brand new F-150 oil changes. It takes everything to break those fuggers loose. I've even bent my filter socket on one of them... its never been the same since

All I can even get in there is one of those strap wrenches, too much stuff going on for anything else. I hand-tighten the filter on as much as possible, then one quarter turn with the strap wrench. As someone on here said, you will have much less problems under-tightening things versus over-tightening.

just wanted to add this, since I haven't seen anyone else post it:

I get to the oil filter via, behind the front driver side wheel well. Theres a little notice in the wheel well that you can reach into to get to the filter.

My first oil was a bicth, I tried everything, but when I saw the hole in the wheel well, that was it. If you wanna try it:

1. start truck, turn steering wheel to the right.
2. change oil as usual.

Its pretty easy to get to. I only have to go underneath to tight it, but thats it. Hope this helps.

Hi Bubba ! Uknow, I don't think I've tried tightening by hand on that last 3/4 turn. I spin it down and just throw the wrench on there.

So , U just give it the KungFu grip and give her a twist ehh? I'll give that a shot.
