All 4.6L '01 - Current with the PI heads are rated at 231, except '07 they jumped up to 241 due to a different tune. Prior to the 3V, the 5.4 was rated at 260. Also the 2V 4.6's in the Mustang are rated at 260 hp...

mustang

Ok so what is so special about the mustang motor. Is it the tuning or what. Patman. Did you do the swap or did you inherite it.

Would a swap involve the PCM as well ... or would it be easier to swap in a 3 valve 4.6 and get 292 in Hp ... more questions than answers.... doesn't truckin and wrenching lead to such fun.

What did you do to the back end? - did you leave the tail gate down

That could screw it up pretty good - specially high siding a hair- pin.

OR - did you leave the ball on the rear bumper and drop the tailgate down on it

Chit happens..

The mustang is rated at 260 due to the manifold being used, though sacrificing some torque for higher rpm hp. The tune also has to be quite different as well.

Swapping the 3V 4.6 and 6 speed tranny out of the Explorer is something that I have been researching as well...

I didnt swap the motor, but for all i know it could have been a rare mistake or something. B.c I have a six rib belt, and most of all the other trucks ive seen have 8 rib belts...

I bought the truck brand new, so i dont have a gray spot in the vehicle history

2002 and 2003 were 'overlapping' years for the 6 and 8 rib belts....

The 07 F150 brochure says the 4.6L has 248hp @ 4750RPM and 294ft-lb @ 4000RPM.
