no throttle response 05 SCAB 5.4

well here i am going 75 mph down the expressway, got the cruise on and all of sudden it knocks a couple times and just slows down to an idle, well i figure the cruise shut off right? wrong, i depress the accelerator and nothing happens, depress it again nothing, now mind you its still running. so i pull over try the throttle again still nothing. I shut it off and had a hard time restarting it, finally started on the 3rd or 4th try,and other then the engine light being on its fine. it did this 3 times. come back home 150 miles and no issues but light still on. hmmmmmm got me stumped

I think you have a electronic controlled throttle. Have the code pulled and post the number.

Could be the tps on the throttle pedal ***, or the tps on the throttle body itself...

The throttle software control is designed to do this so the motor can't go into a run-away condition.
If you were to look, the TB plate actuating assembly is spring loaded so it will close when the control motor is deactivated.
But honestly, it can be just as bad as a sudden slow down in traffic, a falure when passing, pulling out in fast traffic etc.
Very complex operation overall.
Let a dealer take care of it.

Battery

I just got a call from the shop, they said the only code that showed up was the battery ! seems weird that a bad battery could do those things but they said the codes all cleared when a new battery was installed, and all is well with the test drive.
I will monitor closely and inform here if it changes.
Thanks
Tony

Dude,
The truck runs on the alternator when you are driving, not the battery. It is my understanding that the 05 models are drive by wire....this means that you had a glitch in your system and a battery isn't going to fix crap. You should definately cop an attitude and go back to the dealership. Chances are you got some UTI fish working there (no offense to UTI). Ask the dealership to explain to you how a battery affects the trucks ability to control it's throttle positioning system.
I'ld be pissed. Understand these guys read a code, and just go down the list replacing suggested parts. You WILL be back there again for this same problem if you dont get on them now. Sorry to sound emotional but I hate for good people to get screwed on account that someone else is not willing to take the time (while they are getting paid mind you) to properly diagnose and fix a problem. Good luck buddy.
