I know it's been awhile, but I finally got time to work on my truck for a solid few hours. Here's what I did today:

Replaced the IAC
Cleaned the throttle body till it was spotless
Replaced the air filter
Replaced the tubes to the DPFE - the sensor wasn't bad, the tubes were cracked

all I gotta say is....WOW. The truck actually feels alive now. Before I couldn't roast the tires from a stop, but now it's no sweat. I'm gonna do the ghetto air box mod tomorrow as a temp solution untill I order the Air Force 1/Troyer tune (which will be awhile , Lift + tires comes first), so we'll see if that improves anything.

Glad to here she running good now - which air box mod you going with ?

The very best mod for the DoItYourselfer is the Cold Air Intake one.. I made my own intake but I haven't made the Cold air box yet ..

For the cold air box you need Rubbermade Trash can and rubber weather stripping - this is the coolest mod

You just don't want to open your air box and suck all that warm/hot air from the engine compartment - It takes away your performance and you get worse gas mileage because the engine has to work harder when all it has is hot air to make combustion.

The cold air mod surrounds your filter with the bottom of the trash can and when you close the against the weather stripping on the box it seals your filter box and sucks all its air from the front of the truck keeping your power, performance and economy up after she warms up to operating temp.

That's IMO is the best air box mod

Could you post pictures of the mod? I can see what you're saying, but not completely.

I wasn't really coherent when I posted last. I was going to do a combo of mods:

I was going to do the silencer removal mod from HERE

and then I was going do the filter housing removal mod HERE

and hell, while I'm at it, if I can, I guess I'll do that CAI mod as well. I figure I'll do everything to this intake that I can, because if it screws up, I'll just buy an AF1

I would NOT suggest those mods - The first two.. There a waste of time..The engineers over at Ford no more than we do..You'll F your truck up in the long run doing those type mods..

The CAI open filter (K&N) mod is a benefit - It must be cold air no matter what or it will screw it up..

There should be a disclaimer on the AFI - Your truck has to have a need fir the AFI or you won't like it - You need an exhaust first or it will boog..

hmm, what would you reccomend then? I've got the DIY bug now, and I'd like to do something to open the intake up a little and give it a little more breathing room. What did you use to make your own intake?

I use a stock intake now w/K&N Filter. I've made a few but can't use them until my motor can use the extra air - it doesn't know what to do with it. It will boog. A freind who has the AF1 - His motor now boogs as-well..If you get tunes , you might be able to use one , not before.. His tunes are ordered , it takes awhile to get them..

I haven't made a CAI yet.

True, I didn't think about the extra air bogging down without a tune. I guess I'll just wait and buy an AF1 soon then.

One more thing. The plug used to drain the oil underneath the truck is stripped. I can screw it in, and it won't leak, but it just won't tighten anymore. I'm assuming I overtightened it once and this is what resulted. I've gone through a few changes with it like this, and it hasn't lost any more oil than what it normally burns through. Do I need to replace the entire pan or what?

If it's the plug that's stripped, just replace the plug. If it's the pan that's stripped, you can get an oversized plug and retap the pan.
