DPFE Fix

For anyone interested , these are pretty easy to fix.

Drill the rivets out and split it apart , you can see where theses get corroded up inside .

When alls said and done - cleaned with alchohol and electric cleaner , it should look like this and not give you any problems for awhile. I'm still running my stock unit on my 98 -

Awesome. There was a post about this a while back but this one is super simple. I have gone through 2 on my truck. Mine have all been made of plastic and I've broken the hose outlets on them twice. Guess im too strong?

FYI, Ford had problems with the aluminum DPFE and replaced them with plastic ones. most should have the plastic DPFE. i think they even extended the warranty on them.

Yeah , but they had more problems with the plastic ones and that's why you can only get the updated ones from the dealerships now - they haven't released the new product to third party venders , yet..

Thanx , yup I remember that one , in fact that's what got me thinking about it . I thought you may be referring to another that slipped past me..
He should have posted pics on it .

I beleive in the aluminum ones the main prob was that white corrosion.
The plastic ones - Steve mentioned the prob with those once , but I can't recall what he said , nor can I find the thread.

clean it again and see how long it goes? 3 weeks isnt long, so maybe you have an underlying problem?
