The problem is, you may well never know if any damage was done. If any damage was done there is no turning back so don't worry about it. FWIW I have done worse. Think about it. You are sitting there spinning the wheel (s) at about 35 mph. There is no air circulating under the truck so things may have gotten a little warm. The tranny wasn't slipping so it will survive. The engine will stand more than 2-3 minutes of WOT running under load so your unloaded run was a joke for it. If you want to be cautious about it change the fluids......

Out of curiousity, what vehicles have a rev limiter? My 92 5.0l 2wd standard has no rev counter, which I missed having at first but am getting used to, but since it has a computer etc, is rev limiting built in there?

To my knowledge all current production vehicles have rev limiters and most have had them for at least the past 10 if not 15 years.

Regardless of a rev limiter, it will only spin so fast anyway, cause to increase rpms above a certian point, requires further advancement of the ignition timing, a different cam, and possibly heftier valve springs to keep from floating the valves. These things in themselves limit rpms.
