Built 5.0

Would this combination work.

A remanufactured 94-95 5.0L short block
Ford Racing "Z" aluminum cylinder heads
Ford mustang Cobra Fuel Injection Assembly

I would like to know if this combination would work together.

May be piston clearance issues. someone correct me, but I believe .500'' exhaust, .550" intake?

any certain reason you want that route? could make great power for a fraction of the cost.

get a 89-95 mustang 5.0 High output motor.. freshen gaskets seals and bearings, maybe a .30 bore and new pistons, get some gt40 heads (off newer explorers) trick flow stage one cam and a typhoon intake or something like that of ur choice = lots of power and about 2000$ total

I have been under the impression that the Z heads were the best you could get and I would just like to get a new block or remanufactured block that way I don't have to worry about getting a bad block and having to rebuild it soon. But I do want a combination that makes at least 350 horsepower for a reasonable price.

I would also like to know if all the 302/5.0 blocks will fit a 4r70w transmission.

i really dont know if the tranny will fit, but im a 5.0 foxbody mustang guru.. and i dont see the need of you needing a new/remanufactured block. you can buy a good running complete 5.0 HO motor for like 400 bucks here easily.. a quick freshen of seals and such is all you need.

ive never heard of a "Z" head.. but for 350hp you dont need expensive heads..if you want the "best" heads.. go with AFR's trust me, but you really shouldnt need it..

if you want it simple just get the gt40 crate motor... brand new motor, like 3 grand, and comes 350 hp

Instead of trying to fit a 5.0 and all the other crap involved in making it run, why not drop a 5.4 in it? Or an L motor?

Because I want to keep my tranny and I was under the impression that a 302 will bolt up to the 4r70w tranny that was attached to a 4.2 v6. I appreciate all the help you guys are giving and I also appreciate any more help you guys will give. I am serious about doing this engine swap but I am on a college students budget but I also want decent horsepower and some mileage. Again, thanks for all the help.

Correct, a 302/351w will bolt to your 4.2L tranny. 4.6L, 5.4, 6.0, and 6.8 are the mod patterns.
