Help Replacing My Belt Tensioner Pulley F-150

Greetings,
I'm about to attempt to replace my belt tensioner on my 1997 F-150 4.2L V-6
I was wondering if anyone knows of where I might find a tech article about this procedure or if anyone might offer me some useful tips.

I just purchased the pulley not the whole unit so I'm wondering if I need to take the whole thing off including the part with the spring in it (I'm wondering if that spring will fly out on me) or can I simply replace the pulley?

Also does anyone know if this is definitely reverse threads??

Any and all help comments or suggestions are appreciated..

the tensioner pulley should be bolted right to the bracket. it should come off all in one piece.then you can get a better look at it.the pulley is attached to arm that has the spring inside.

Still mainking noise

Well,
thanks for the one reply, I removed the pulley without taking the whole thing off and just replaced the pulley part but I still have my noise..
I'm over it I'm not a mechanic, I've tried but it always turns out to be more involed, plus I posted here and got one reply, which was appreciated but not really much help..

Thanks
I think I'll just take it to a shop because i can't seem to ever get the advice I need

What kind of noise? Sure it's not just the belt?

check all your pulleys when the belt is off. make sure they all spin freely. is the belt the original?? they wear out, stretch over time. i suggest you pick up a haynes manual and study it.

check your tensioner, idler, water pump, and ac compressor pulley. all of those are prone to making noise. the idler can be removed without taking the belt off. everything is right hand threaded.
