f150 5.4 1600rpms friends dodge 5.9L 1900rpms at 65PMH me getting over 20MPG and he is struggling to get 14MPG! Wanna talk about how many miles trucks turn? Granpas 1997 F150 Lariat 319K pulling miles on flat grounds of Iowa that thing aaalways has at least 5K LBS hooked to his back. My 1988 Ranger 2.0L engine 248K miles had it since 180K miles only use it to haul trash or junky stuff and i had 3K LBS on bed in October i was trowing old shingle material from roof and that thing was mad heavy when guy scaled me he could not belive i had over 3K LBS on back of my Ranger and i told him wait i will be back because i need to do 2more loads today and he finally believed me then. Standar load for garbage is $9 and i ended up paying $38dollars for one load.
I **** on your dodge i wont say nothing about chevy because my uncle has one and it is a descent truck but when we pulling i am sure my uncle would rather have lower rpms! Oh both F150 and Dodge Ram are 2001s!
I have 7 glass trucks and 6 works trucks let me tell you my cousin has a Ranger and he just about prayed that it would be stolen because he had more problems then he could count. Once again everyone has a story about a good truck and everyone has a story about a bad truck. I hope your company and your "uncle" are happy with there trucks and I hope when you graduate highschool your a happy person also. In the mean time I wouldn't try to generalize everyone's experience with a vehicle. I would stick to what I know.

One thing I know more Hp = better towing. More tq = better towing. Also bigger truck = better towing. Also my dad is cooler than yours. Get a 250 or 350.

what a loser. Remember to wipe when you do take a ****. Wouldn't want to get a yeast infection "honey"

I'm not sure if more hp equates to better towing or not. Take a stock f150 with a 5.4 and try towing a trailer. Then take a stock f250 with a 5.4 and tow the same trailer. I'd say that the f250 will tow it easier and better. They both have the same hp, but the 250 has a more beefy frame and suspension and a more heavy duty transmission.

So no I don't think more hp helps better towing. Again like I said before a tractor with only 110 hp can pull a 5 bottom plow one foot deep in the ground. It's all because of torque at the rear wheels. Then again maybe towing and pulling aren't the same thing, but I'm not sure how can say they aren't.

Why didnt you buy a hemi now you had a good luck with your first dodge? Because your torque is set so high! Why buy a ford?
Torque and HP matter but what really matters is where that hp and torque is located the lower the better. Stick to your dodge and i will stick to my ford!

Sorry not in high school i am a 20yr old junior at Iowa State University in Construction Engineering.

I'd say it is classic fordish and I like it.

[QUOTE=usedtodrivechev]

"I mean 3 threads on the head for the spark plug? come on? thats just BS!"

3 threads huh, looks like that statements BS!!

Something Else To Know

The 5.4L seems to be having a lot of problems with stripped spark plug threads. Both the head and the spark plugs only have five or six threads, so it’s easy to strip them out if someone tries to remove the plugs when the head is hot or overtorques them during installation. Ford recommends 7 to 15 pounds of torque, which doesn’t seem like enough to some people who have big wrenches. Some of the plugs weren’t torqued properly at the factory, either, so they slowly worked themselves loose until they were literally blown out of the head, coil pack and all.

Rebuilders should check the spark plug threads carefully and repair any of them that even look questionable. Some rebuilders are actually installing inserts in all of the spark plug holes to avoid problems in the field. We’re familiar with three different repair inserts: the ones that are made of stainless steel, like Heli Coil; the steel inserts made by Time Fastener; and the hard anodized aluminum ones that are made by Lock-N-Stitch

1964 was the last year for the Y block 292 in pickups. The 352 Y block was introduced in 1965 on the F series trucks, along with the new 240 I6..the 300 I6 was optional. (332 and 352 FE Y block engines first appeared in passenger cars in 1958).

In mid year 1966, the '65 F series grilles (C5TZ-8200-A & B) were replaced by the 1966 grilles (C6TZ-8200-A & B).

When I found out about this, I immediately called around and bought a C5TZ-8200-B the chrome '65 grille as a spare for my '65 F100.

I still have the grille and the truck.

BTW: 1965 was the first year for the Ranger option...it consisted of chrome side trim, chrome grille and bumpers, zippered door pockets, deluxe gauge overlay and padded dash, and Falcon bucket seats and console.

I don't know which one came out first, but I saw the Chevy LONG before I saw the Ford. Who photo shopped who is up for debate, both are fugly IMO.

Growin up , I always wanted the Ford truck that was in production the year I came into the world, guess I'm a Ford lover from way back. The motor wasn't the most powerful , but it sure ran good. I still remember the way it sounded going through the gears (three in the tree). I had it painted Jet Black with gold pinstripes. My brother sold her for me after I went off to school - needed the money back then. My dad still has his Model A pickup in the barn tarpped - you can't even get to it , he has so much crap around it lol. I'll bring that back to life someday.

Thanx for the post.

You're welcome..

Only Ford trucks made the year I was born were for use during WWII.

My first Ford truck was a 1956 F100, first car...1953 Merc.

The F-250 has a 5 speed transmission and geard for HD, that probably has more to do with pulling better as everything else mentioned is just more weight.
