i would use a better filter like a WIX or something. i used to use motorcraft until the rubber seal on the filter blew out on me. wix is the best and its only a couple dollars more. stay away from fram too by the way. same problem

Full synth is better than a blend. If you are out of warranty you can also increase your drain intervals. If you are following the 3k you can go 5 if you are doing the 5k already for light duty you can do 7. I have run mobile 1 in all my other truck with extended drain intervals and never had a problem

Not EVERY one. If it is not having a problem, I would keep using it. I have never liked changing brands if it is not using oil.

If it ain't broke, don't break it. What you're using now works; why mess with success?

So true, so true.

I would leave it alone. Motorcraft filters work great and filter great, the blend is what came with the truck then leave it like that. It's not a vette that comes with Mobil 1 from the factory

I've used a wide variety in oils, everything from cheapass wal-mart stuff up to premium Mobil-1(that 15,000 mile stuff). I have plain Valvoline 10-30 in the truck and it's fine. Never a problem with any of it, though I did notice a slight increase in average MPG when I used full synthetic in the Cherokee. Same for filters, typically for them I just use whatever's on sale or what Autozone gives me free with the oil. I've used Fram in my boat for years and it's always been fine. Recently STP filters, since they're free w/5 quarts of oil, no problems there either.

Because they want to.

The point being, for the dollar you'll spend for a more expensive oil, you won't see any significant changes or benefits.

ETA - And I've gota '97 5.4 liter that's made it to 180K on every oil imaginable short of cooking oil, and 44K trouble free miles on an '04 5.4L 3V on Motorcraft 5W20 and Motorcraft filters. Not everyone uses it.
