Help! Motor stalls when I hit accelerator???

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one confused about that post.
Do you know what could be causing it to flood? And, about the code reader. I found a few on Ebay that will read OBD I codes in my truck for about $25 to $50. Are these a scam? The local auto parts store quoted me over $300 for one.
