You all aren't looking close enough to the facts. The bottom line is, if you use the toyota 7500 mile change interval, then yes its a sludge box. But, if you use the OIL MANUFACTURER recommended 3000 mile interval, the problems are NIL.

You are immature calling me out when you could have just stated "Hey guys look what I googled!". Instead you chose the school boy method.
I have presented far more facts about Amsoil and oil change intervals than you have but yet only your facts are valid. Huh? Are you too dim to see the fault there? You keep bringing it back to Toyota which has nothing to do with the discussion except to possibly show an engine design that is very susceptible to poor oil choices.
Do what you feel is best for your truck and the environment. I have no problem with that. I will continue to use the best oil for my situation and sleep well at night knowing I am not throwing away a precious resource before it has done its job.
Enjoy your trucks, enjoy life. It is too short for petty school yard fights.
It may have been titled with your name, but it wasn't for calling you out. It was to make sure you read it. The local Amsoil dealer had left a message for me that he was coming by again this year to waste some more of my time, so I found some instances of their failures to test him. He couldn't explain the transmission failures, other than of course to blame the tranny's not the lube. He gave me the same song and dance you like to use for the toy motor, its the motor. Well geez I said, there sure are a lot of those motors out there tooling around with 200K plus miles that change the oil every 3000 miles though. He sat there, dumbfounded and speechless.
I'll never believe their crap as long as they fail to subject themselves to industry standard testing for all products. And if one day they do, I still wouldn't use it. I showed you a timeline that tells you they just hijacked some military spec oil, relabeled and said they invented it. Sure, maybe they made some inprovements over the years, but its still a basic hijacked product.
Also, as for your super filter setups, there's more to a filter than how well it can filter. We have to watch oil pressure drop, bypass regulation, and many other factors.
If you really understand ALL the things that govern oil life Amsoil's claims evaporate. The extremely high temps at which they run there tests don't replicate true operating conditions.

I think most of y'all think way too hard about oils.
Use whatever you want, synthetic or conventional, Amsoil or Mobil 1, Wesson or Crisco. Use the recommended weight for your engine. Use something with the latest API rating. Stick a good filter on the engine. Change it regularly, and sleep well at night.

Aww come one guys everybody knows if you just put in a quart of Slick 50 (As Seen on TV!) you can drain the oil and all the coolant out of your engine and it will never seize up. They even had an astronaut endorse it on their commercial so it has to be true!
98navi, it is interesting the link provided by you and the quoted writings of Dr Haas, Doctor A E Haas, surgeon, to be exact. While I have the deepest regard for AE he is not and does not presume to be a lube engineer in any way or form. He is a hobbist of fine automobiles. He has a Lambo, Ferrari, and his recent purchase, a Maybach. But that hardly makes his writings gospel. FWIW, he will tell you that for the daily driver the best oil out there will be a blend.

I know you have an issue with the Amsoil folks for your own reasons which are not important here, but Amsoil products perform very good in a commercial environment. Companies that trend their engines via analysis are running engines into the 250,000 mile range and having no issues. Obviously, these are trucks I am speaking about. We have hundreds of happy O/Os that run Amsoils HDD oil into the 50-60,000 mile range with the Amsoil by-pass filtration unit and wear metals are not off of the scale but generally just average. Some of the O/Os run it even longer and no ill effects. While I sometimes recommend it for our commercial accounts, I still find it not cost effective for the average driver who only puts 15-20,000 miles a year on their engine. Will it harm an engine? Not usually and if there is an issue it usually will be from another source causing the oil to gas which can, in Amsoils oils, cause damage to the emmissions system. Will it make an engine last longer? It is made from a PAO basestock that is manufactured by Mobil/Exxon. PAOs do not have any more lubricity than a dino oil as they are the same hydrocarbon, just different length. So the answer there is no, it won't make an engine last longer. It can be a valuable tool for those having units that time is money. Maintenance downtime can be reduced by running longer OCIs. This is the Amsoil advantage and in that game- they are at the top. But like you I find some of their claims to be pure BS, but the product is good.
That's all folks

Labnerd,
I am glad you can see it from all angles, not just that of "oh my god amsoil is the greatest oil on earth" And for the record, I have never said their oil wasn't any good, I have always simply hammered at their 25K mile interval and shown that it isn't effective for consumer vehicles, toyota in particular.
Thakns for the input though.
