If you stay on the highway, you're just wasting your money. But it's ok, if it makes you feel better.

It freezes in Georgia too. I'm not familiar with the orange antifreeze, so that may be the case with it. Nobody takes better care of their machines than me, but I don't go wild on them. I have over 50 engines on the farm and it would get expensive!
Copper and brass were used 100% until the 1970's.

Heh, sounds like you have a good case going for you, Chester. Perhaps enough documented evidence to take on a bunch of falsehoods put out by anti-freeze manufacters, automakers and even the government since they surley would want to reduce the amount of toxic waste that gets dumped in this country. Maybe a call to 60 minutes is in order to break this thing wide open!

Don't tell anybody that I forgot to change my wifes oil on her car and she actually went 30,000 miles on the Amsoil. (with an oil filter change and topoff at 12,500).

I'm sorry, but I was talking about industrial and farm equipment. Not vehicles. And they all have aluminum radiators.

Do what you wish, I was just saying that probably nobody here keeps a truck more than 10-15 years, and in that time period, you won't have to worry about your radiator rotting out. So there's no need to change the antifreeze, unless you just want to.

I have heard of people that never change the oil in their semi trucks. They just keep adding more when it gets low. That may be a bit extreme though.

I wouldn't expect anybody to get 400,000 miles out of a 5.4 no matter how often they change the oil. It's hard to compare diesel's statistics with gasoline's. For example, I've got a tractor with over 14,000 tach hours on it. (which means it records time at pto rpm, so when the engine is idling, it reads time slower). Equate to an automobile: 14,000 hours going 60 mph = 840,000 miles! And that's at full throtle 99% of the time. I've also noticed that once a truck reaches 200,000-300,000 miles, the whole truck is worn out. Not just the engine and tranny.

I guess there is always exceptions though.

Yah right, I would like to see a forty year old tractor with an aluminum radiator.
