I wouldn't use a napa air filter. (in my truck anyway) The guy that had it before me, put one in the truck. I drove it for a year like that until my dad started having problems with his truck. He had to have the throttle body cleaned because it was caked up with fine dust. The mechanic told my dad to use motorcraft filters and it would prevent the problem from happening again. I took my air filter out and it looked like new (even after a year in the truck), but I replaced it with a motorcraft one. Now, I stop it up 3 to 4 of them a year. But I live on a farm, so, my truck eats dirt all day.

my uncles expedition had lik 283,000 on it when he sold it to some mexicans south of the boarder for like 8,000. it still ran great any everything but the drive train was showing signs of imminant failure. but the milage on it was 100% highway. and he used synthetic since it was brand new. and had intake TBS and hypertech on it since it was brand new. and had 35" tires on it. so anyone who says mods effect the life of the vehicle is wrong...

Over 156,000 miles now. Tow the TT in the pic about 8-9 times a year and each trip is good for around 500+ miles....

Still runs as good as it always has. It does have a couple of broken exhaust manifold studs, but other then a few 'ticks' when it's cold, it runs great!

oh yeah! Been using Mobil 1 5w30 since around 80,000 miles and change oil every 6,000 miles. Used Pennzoil 5w30 before that. Not sure on the trucks initial 62,000 miles, as that's what it had on it when I bought it.... I only changed to Mobil 1 because of what I heard on this site and just feel better about it.... Use MC oil filters.

I've been using Mobil 5W-30 syn blend for about 12k miles. Dont know what it had in it before then. I think the guy that owned it before me took pretty good care of it though. It has about 142,000 on it now. Runs and drives smoothly. Only had to replace IAC and fuel filter. Very strong truck.

This is a facinating thread! So far no one has tuned in a high miler with regular 5-30. Like so many I started out with regular 5-30, then after research, I started using synthetic blend. I only have 71,000 on mine. I have consistently used Mobil 1 synthetic 0W-30 in the dead of our Idaho winters here.

I forgot that we have a 1985 model F-150 and it has over 200,000 miles, and we change the oil when we get a chance(not too often), and all we put in it is just strait 30 weight. We put that in all our vehicles, and we've sold all our past vehicles running.

We've had a pretty good rsopnse to. "Who has the most miles on their 5.4L
F150's? That is on the original engine without overhauling it. AND EXACTLY what kind of oil did you use?" Surely there are more high milers out there????

My 2005 F150 did more than 300,000 mostly trouble free miles, before I had to replace my transmission in November of 2017. I am concerned about timing chains and phasers and oil pump, but it is ticking along perfectly. It has a noticable loss of power, but still tows fine. No oil leaks, but it can use half a quart between 3000 mile changes. I change my spark plugs every year to avoid any problems with them. Although I have never had any. I will never talk bad about my Ford truck, it has been good to me. I bought it new and have grown to trust it completely. I do above and beyond routine maintenance though. But that is just me.

Sounds as if you have cared for it well and it has served you well.

Its not the highest but mine has 202k miles on it. I run Castrol or valoline 5w20 full synthetic. got with 134k on it and really been pretty trouble free. I am more proactive on repair which are just starting with in the last year

My '05 F150 is currently in the shop getting a new timing kit (phasers, chains, etc.) put on it. It started acting like a bucking bull. Got 164k on it and hope i can get a whole lot more after the repairs.
