I run 5-50 Syntec with Prolong. Change it every 5,000,and i have 185,000 on my 97 4.6 and the only thing i had to do to the engine was plugs, wires, and clean the EGR ports at 125,000.

Most synthetics are very similar in additives and longevity. Any full synthetic 5/20 or 5/30 should be fine. But if you are changing at 3,000 intervals - its a waste of $.
