6T6CPE,

Yeah, I got it from a guy I work with. He's kinda' of a scumbag, but he knows vehicles and takes care of them. He got it from a contractor who drove 100 miles to work and 100 miles from work, all highway, every day. That explains the miles. But it's still in damn good shape. For $4k, got the truck and a brand new 5.4 on a stand ready to go in when the 4.6 goes. Couldn't pass it up...

Over 225,000 miles and still going semi-strong. Nothing major has been done to the 302 or the 40R70W. I would love to see 300,000 on my truck!

A freind of mine has a couple Hondas, one a CRV, the other is Civic. The CRV has over 150K on it, and he always brags to me that Fords will never last as long as Honda engines can and always says Fords are the biggest POS cars and trucks on the road!

I should show him this fourm, looks like Ford engines are lasting much longer then his CRV that is falling apart!

198k and going strong!

Replaced the front and back U-joints when I first bought it. All highway when I got it 5 years ago. Some very stupid off-road miles have been put on it since I bought it, but mostly highway. Replaced the plugs and wires last year, and now I'm having to get a bolt replaced on the manifold, but it's been one heck of a truck. When ever this one dies, I'm getting another F-150 (next time a Screw ) no doubt about it.

Well I have a long way to go I just put my new truck over 2100 miles yesterday if I was still driving my old truck like I had planed on until latter this year it would have 98000 on it now but because of the trany acting up at 96k I had to trade it in for the new one. Well i work with a guy that bad mouths FORD as he is a big GM fan he has a 95 saturn that has 260k on it and he had to have the eninge rebuilt at 235k I give him a hard time about it because the enigine couldn't last longer than 235k I going to print off some of thses post and really make him mad.

My Farm Oyl rep has 325,000 miles on his and transmission just went out. His partner has 390,000 on his they both have 4.6 engines. They both replace altenators, muffler and brakes. They travel Minnesota and they are mostly highway miles.

Thumbs up No surprise for 300k miles

The triton 4.6 and 5.4's have to be one of the best engines Ford has made, along side the 5.0 Now that engine takes an azz whippin. Had one in the mustang I have a 1998 F150 4x4 4.6 It has 135,900 rounds on it and still drives like new. The body is in super shape no rust or dings. If you treat your truck good.... your truck will be good to you.

Now a buddy of mine bought a 1997 F150 4x4 with the 5.4 and 218,000 rounds on it from a local dodge dealer. New car trade i guess?? Ford for a dodge?? Some buddy wasent thinking clear. But anyway long story short he bought it before it went to the auction. He's had it 3years and it now has 290,000 on it and has had the living crap ran out of it. Dunes, 4x4 trails up north (MI) you name it hes done it. Only thing that has been replaced is the spark plugs...Bottom of the plugs were melted away.
Go figure......Ford F150 Finest trucks made!

300,000

300,000 Miles this morning. It was decently cold out too!

Yesterday I finally took a closer look at why the Passenger Side looks a little lower; busted spring shackle. So, it's fix the Shackle, fix the blower resistor (all high is annoying), and fix the front driveshaft U-Joints and hope it makes it through Winter!

Happy New Year!

P.S. - is there another 300K thread? I'm kind of dragging this one out from the dead!!!

My Dad bought the old 79 f150 new and I'm only guessing it should be flirting with 300,00mi. We had the speedo unhooked for a few years due to having a Mustang toploader in place of the original toploader OD trans. He drove 100 miles per day just to work and it was his only vehicle so it was driven 7 days a week. I haven't put a lot of miles on it over the years I've had it and my guess for total miles is probably 275,000 - 285,000. The original 302 was still running when we swapped it out for a 351W at around 150,00mi.
