Let's go for the 300,000 mile club.

My 1999 XLT with a 4.6 V-8 turned over 300,000 miles last week. I've used nothing but synthetic since 36,000. Done all maintenance as scheduled. The major things have been a new alternator at 150,000 and new front end parts just recently. Outside of a dash bulb out and my digital odometer fading in and out it's in great shape. Undoubtedly the best vehicle I've ever owner and I still drive it anywhere today.

300,000 on a '99?
Dang Al, no wonder you only have 15 posts in the last five years. :)

Is this mainly all highway driving? How is your transmission? Good luck to you and your trusty Ford!

wow! I hope my 4.6 Last that long!

Yeah I've mostly been a lurker. But if nothing goes wrong I have no reason to ask for advice.

It's been probably 60-70% highway miles. The transmission seems to be as good as new.

I think the keys have been prompt maintenance, quality oils and fluids, not hot-rodding it and probably the highway miles.

215,000 miles, going strong....actually bought it a 204,000, quite a chance for me ( I rarely ever gamble on anything) but I think that it's a tribute to the truck that it drove so damn well I just couldn't turn it down. :bows:

my uncle will have that on his 5.4 perty soon. i last talked to him and he had 270,000 i think before his last couple of trips from alabama to minnesota

300,000 is nuts.....I dont hear of many vehicles these days lasting that long, much less an f150, nice work..... Wow man, a 7 year old truck with that many, thats 42,000 miles per year, thats a crazy amount of driving regardless of what the vehicle is. :fyi:

I have 2,450 miles on mine, so I have a long way to go

Zaairman 01-05-2006 11:04 PM

300K  And here I was thinking that in 5 - 6 years when I sell my truck it'll have aobut 170K or so and that 'd be a lot. To me. My dad's over halfway there on his 4cyl ranger, my neighbor is well over 2/3s the way there on his F-150, dunno the motor though. :rocker:

I have 283,000 miles on my 1995 F150 XLT. 351 Windsor with the e40d transmission. No changes besides regular oil changes and new spark plugs and wires. Motor still runs very strong and transmission is still smooth. I have a K&N filter and serpintine pulleys. I did lose a tension pulley going down the road but that thing was worn out, and when it when out, it went out. Nothing but the bearing left. All in all i think i've done pretty good. They haven't all been highway miles or putt putt either. Hard workin on a farm and then i took it over and now it has "street racing" miles on it. Had about 190,000 when i got it from my Dad. Very good truck.

I hope my 97 lasts another 4 years, 11 months and 28 days. Bought it 9 years ago this month! I won't have 300,000 but it should be in the 250,000 range.

By the looks of the body it looks like the previous owner took good care of it. It sure doesn't look like a 200,000 mile truck.
