question

So i decided to go mudding today in my f150 screw lariat 4x2, i had just got all terrains put on. Also i should add that i just replaced my battery today. So later tonight i would get out of my car and notice this burning rubber smell coming from the engine. and it wasnt my tires and i know that for sure. I smelled the battery and noticed nothing. I have no idea what this is and i think its important could someone help me out?

I would take off the positive battery cable immediately!! Then check things out tomorrow in the daylight. There have been engine fires caused by defective cruise controls.

could be your alternator there is a plastic connector that will burn if the alternator gets shorted out if not look for something touching the manifolds or a short somewhere... cruise control switches smell different from plastic burning due to fact its brake fluid burning not plastic

Closely check your serp. belt. There could have been mud thrown up on it causing abrasion. This can burn the serp. belt. A little water will get rid of it and all will be well....

Before you start replacing stuff, make sure you get all the mud cleaned out. It can get EVERYWHERE, and you need to get as much of it as possible out. Thats where I would start.
