Cam Seals????

I just bought a new head and cam assembly and there is a tag that says "cam seals not installed". What are the cam seals?
This is on a 1999 5.4 motor.
The parts store doesnt even know what they are!

Where did you get the motor? Call them and ask. There are no cam seals on the 99 5.4. It is an over head cam engine. The cam is in the head and it is exposed so there is nothing to seal. Is it an assembled head? Valves installed? It could be a reconditionned head and they have not replaced the valve seals?

Yes it is a new assembled head with the cam already installed with all new parts! But there was a bright yellow tag that said cam seals not installed that the mechanic needs to install them??
You think that tag was a mistake?

It has to be a mistake. I looked again at the cylinder head assembly instructions and there is no procedure for cam seals. There are no cam seals in this head. Again contact the company that sold you the heads and find out what they meant.
