Chevy Vs. Ford

Jes
I have a 00 F150 5.4 subercab, 8' bed, 4x4 ORP, 3.55 rear end
My uncle has 00 Chevy 2500 subercab 4x4, 8' bed 6.0L (don't know rear end)
my Dad has an 02 F350 supercab, 8' bed, 6.8L v10 3.73 rear end
My comparison:
My F150 - slowest, most comfortable, has handled everything I've asked it do do (I've had it sitting on the frame several times) solid truck, holds it gear well, gets ~15 mpg (16.5 last couple of tanks), OK turning radius
Uncles 2500 - faster than my F150, interior comfort is OK, but feels like you're sitting in a hole, it sits much lower to the ground, interior components feel cheap and like I could break them too easy, seems tuned more like a sports car - quick, w/ a lot of power in the higher RPMS, lacking torque in the lower RPMs (doesn't seem tuned/geared for handling loads like 3/4 ton truck should be), downshifts very easy, for a truck that supposedly gets ~17 mpg, it used more gas than my F150 (and I drove it slower), mirrors are terrible (they slant up and are difficult to see anthing with), turning radius is proably similiar to my F150, maybe a little worse
Dad's F350 - propably faster than the 2500, w/ gobs of power all the way across the power band, seats not very comfortable (cloth split bench), doesn't hold it's gear as well as my F150, gets 12-14 mpg, sits a little too high (it's a pain getting stuff in and out of the bed), I have had 3 tons in the bed and it handled it w/ ease, I've towed a car on a tandem axle trailer and couldn't tell it was there until I had to stop, has trailer towing mirrors which means that the passenger side mirror is not convex and therefore dificult to see anything with (for someone used to convex passenger side mirror anyeay), takes a 40 acre field to turn this thing around
overall - as much as I like the V10, I'll keep my F150 for now (athough I'll probably add some helper springs to it soon). If I towed and hauled loads much more often than I do now, I would take the F250/F350 V10. I would take the chevy if someone gave it to me, but I won't be going out and buying one.

You hit the nail on the head about the interior components of the Chevy looking cheap. That's been one of my pet peeves with the latest Silverados. When they changed the styles in 1999, I thought they looked really cool. The interiors looked great then, too. But when 2003 came around, the front changed, which I didn't like. And the interior started to look cheaper. I guess I still like the GMC Sierras because they never changed the style of the front much, but since it's still a Chevy deep down, the interior's looking cheap. My father-in-law bought an '05 Sierra because he's a hard-core GM fan (and anti-Ford, I'm afraid). When I look at an '05 F-150 interior, I think "That's what a truck should look like". Ford really did a good job designing the interior to make it look comfortable and rugged.
