Unhappy Power loss...Please Help

Hello I have a 1997 Ford F150 v-6 standard trans. Lately I have noticed loss in power when trying to accelerate to highway speeds. It is almost impossible to maintain speeds over 55 or 60 mph. The truck also "hesitates" when I let off the gas at lower speeds as if it is not getting gas. I have also experienced a serious drop in fuel efficency ( I am only getting about 10 mi. to the gallon).

I would appreciate any help.....Thanks in advance!

sparkplugs and wires
fuel filter and air filter
coils

(change them in that order unless already new/low mileage, one item at a time and try it, until problem resolved) Your symptoms indicate sparkplugs (fouled or worn).

Thanks I'll try that this weekend. The truck has about 110,000 miles on it. About 2 months ago a got a p1151 code but I don't think that is related.

Thanks again

P1151

HO2S Bank 2 sensor 1 Instuff. Switching Mean Lean

This could be part of your problem too. It is a faulty O2 sensor. That will cause poor fuel ecomomy, running out of tune etc. The rears only tell the engine that the cat.'s are hot. But if it believes the cat.'s are cold it could run richer trying to warm the engine up.

When I get a bad O2, I change them all, not just the bad one. The rest are sure to follow. That means all four. The one with the bad readings is past the cat. converter.

+1 iron horse ....I'd still recommend the tune up too, if one hasn't been done recently.
