lacking power

i have a 2000 f-150 and it had a cat-back exhaust and throttle body spacer in it when i bought it, and i have since put a cold air intake in it. i figured this truck would now have lots of power. but when it comes to climbing hills and especially when i try to accelerate to pass on the high this truck really lacks in power. is that just the way it is or is there something wrong? should i try new spark plugs? anything else?

If you have an automatic tranny you might want to consider a shift kit for it, I am dissapointed with the auto tranny's ford is using, they should have never got rid of the C4 and C6's.

yeh shift kits are great. but what engine do u have and that throttle body spacer doesnt work...it harms u more then it helps.. and that whistling noise does get annoying. what catback system did u geat a true dual or a large single.

The C6 was only a three speed. Imagine that. I would be running 3000 rpms down the highway, I'm sure my gas mileage wouldn't suffer. I don't understand what you don't like about todays trannys. They are almost as efficent as todays manuals, and only require fluid changes every 2-3 years. Putting a shift kit in your transmission is not going to give you more power.
You never indicated what combination you have anyways. You could be running a v6 in an x-cab truck, don't expect much.

These trucks weigh what? 5000lbs? and with only 300hp your not going to be flying past anything. These trucks are big and slow. Meant for towing, not racing. You wouldnt tow a boat with a corvette would you?

That throttle body spacer isn't worth the money unless you found it.

The exhaust and isnt doing much besides change the sound in regards to horsepower per dollar spent.

In my opinion cold air systems are a ripoff.

If you want power with the truck you have then buy a blower, if not, buy something meant for speed.

Gears will help with gear-hunting in the mountains, and will help with acceleration at the potential expense of some fuel economy.

A blower will definitely help
