if you reuse gaskets, you're just asking for problems, they are meant for a true seal once, for how much a gasket costs, or even a gasket set costs, its definitely worth it in the long run.

92f150302 - I'm going to completely disagree with you on that. Many of the gaskets used on the triton engines are designed for re-use, as long as you don't tear the rubber membrane.

You don't have to take my word for it, but if you search this site, the Mustang and Crown Vic sites, you'll see that I am correct.

I still don't think that I would reuse the gaskets either. I mean for the cost I would rather install new gaskets. Just not worth the chance for such a minor cost.

It boils down to what each person is comfortable with. I think new head-to-manifold gaskets, valve cover and front cover gaskets would be at least $50.

It wasn't worth it to me to spend that money on gaskets that were meant to be used multiple times (assuming they aren't torn).

There are items that with out a doubt need to be replaced when changing or replacing heads. Head gaskets, head bolts and the crank shaft bolt.

All other items are up to the discretion of the individual.
