Need more Hp

I was reading the post on how the K&N FIPK doesnt improve gas, but did you guys notice the hp gain. I dont do much towing on my 4.6 f-150 but with the new bigger tires i need to gain some back. I want to get a K&N intake and summit duals. But i was also wondering about the chips you talk about. I know some people refer to the chip as one of the hypertech programmers, but is there an actual chip that you install, and if so how hard is it to install. any help regarding this would be appreciated

Not hard at all. Mike Troyer at troyerperformance.com, one of the sponsors of the site, is into the hp and tuner thing. Basically, buy the tuner, plug into the diagnostic port, turn the key on and off a couple of times after removing the fuel pump fuse, and VOILA! Done.

Check out his products on his website or post the question on the chips forum on this website. From what I've seen of his response to posts, he's sharp!

Yes, the full K&N FIPK adds about 10 more HP over the drop-in.

just remember when you buy somethign that says adds 15 hp those are the higest numbers and total horses gained. this is very misleading because it doesnt made 15 everywhere... just 2 here 3 here which means you probably wont feel a differance... dont get me wrong i have it on my truck and i like not ever having to buy new ones. so just remember u wont feel another 15 0r 40 hp everywhere like it says on the package but do remember all the little numbers count at the end after modding your truck.

also what is better the programmer or the chip that you leave in because on the website there is a single program and a 4 bank system and i dont want to sound stupid but i dont know what all that means, i mean the max is around 300 dollars so im willing to pay for the hp gain or the better quality so which one is the best.

i have heard of alot of people liking super chips max tuner. i have the 1715 which has 87 octain, towing, and performace modes (91 octain) i love it and many other people go one step further and get a custom tune from mike troyer.... look in the chips and programer section.
