Oxygen Sensor error code...Help? Po153
Just brought my 1998 F150 4x4 5.4L (serial's 8th digit "L") into the Autozone folks to check my "Check-engine" light with their scanner. They told me I had error code "Po153" and that I had a bad oxygen sensor in Bank 2, Sensor One. I confirmed this code online at www.actron.com but am not sure if I should drop the $50 to replace it. My questions are: 1. While I realize the sensor "ones" are located in front of the converter, I'm not sure which side bank two is for my truck..passenger or drivers side? (Autozone told me that bank two was the passenger side, but I wanted confirmation from the "real" experts here on this forum) I'm not a mechanic so I wasn't able to locate it when I looked under the hood... 2. Should I test anything else before replacing the sensor, or should I start off by replacing the sensor and then see if it fixes the problem? Thanks, Matt
Thanks, I'll take your advice and replace it (once I find it). I'm also going to try to get rid of the annoying ABS light. From reading other posts, I'm guessing my speed sensor might be shot. So rather than taking it to a garage and paying $$$ to have it hooked to an ABS scanner, I'll just see what happens. Thanks!
AutoZone also told me with the P0135 I have the sensor in front of the cat on the pass side and behind the cat were bad.
I changed both and the light will come back on after resetting it.
So I must change the sensors on the Drivers side also? Is there just one or is there two more?
I have an 1999 4.6 F150 Lariet. Auto trans.
