I have driven all kinds of different trucks, and the Fords I have driven have just been unbelievably tough. Most trucks would never hold up under the kind of crap that I put my truck through. I do agree with closer9, though, I think we need a `regular` regular cab. Not everyone needs or wants access doors, and we should have a choice.

I used to be a chevy guy but I owned older muscle cars, a 72 SS Nova and a 73. Also an 2 S-10's an s-10 blazer and a GMC Jimmy (s-10 blazer) . The Nova's were killer and bulletproof rock solid but so were most old musclecars, The S-10's were junk, the only one I really liked was the jimmy but that was a custom 350V8 conversion hahaha! Then I bought my Stang and also needed a daily driver and got my F-150, I almost bought a z-71, it was a nice truck but fell in lust with my NASCAR F-150 when I saw it and drove it and still love it! Now im more of a ford guy lol. A lot of NYC cabs have the 4.6's and a lot with over 200k miles with no engine problems and driven under the absolute worst conditions possible, thats gotta acount for something.(everytime I got a ride in one I talked to the drivers about reliability in general,millage/longevity on the cars and explorers)

From what I hear (from a person I know who works in a service department at a Chevy Dealership and sees all the recalls). Is that there are alot of drivetrain issues, mostly quality of parts. Also I have heard alot of bad things about the interior components (plastic parts falling off, windshields leaking, ***** falling off radios, radio/cd changer malfunctions, etc...). I would not give up my F-150 for a Chevy. I love my truck and have almost 128,000 miles on it with no major engine or drivetrain work. It still idles perfect, doesn't use and oil (and I still run 5W30 full synthetic). It just seems that as the auto companies try to keep cutting costs more and more (and GM is among the leader in buying cheap parts from China) the quality of the vehicles is suffering, but I can honestly say that I do not see that with the F-Series trucks. Ford knows that this is their rock.

I have always been a GM guy,I guess because of my father. My first Ford was a 93 Ranger (used) and in 2000 I bought a new F150.Every GM I owned was really looked after and they all smoked or knocked or were just junk.I will never ever buy a GM again unless I get a Vette for free.

Thumbs down

It's funny that this would come up. I was just talking to my next door neighbor about his "new style" Chevy truck. I had never really talked to him about it before but, from what he said, he has had a lot of problems with it. "To many to remember” He only has 50K on it and he has had the rear window replaced, the throttle body replaced at least twice, and many other things. He mentioned about 5 major things. He complained to the dealer and they ignored him so, he called Chevy, then the dealer called him back and asked him what they could do to make it right with him. He ended up getting the cost of the extended warranty refunded. He is still not overly happy.

In comparison, I told him that my 97' F150 had over 100K and all that I have done to it is regular maintenance. I am very happy with my F150.

I drive my truck fairly hard. While I have had it for less than 5k miles I have yet to encounter the slightest problem with the bloomin' thing. The only "problem" I could say I have had is trying to figure out the most cost-effective way to make my truck a 400hp Daily Driver (mostly from being a {proud :\ } owner of an Integra GSR).

HOWEVER! The way I drive is absolutely tame compared to how my buddy drives his bone stock 1500 reg cab 4.3L V6. It is constantly floored and still has yet to have a single problem in even the slightest way.

My truck has 43k miles on it while his truck has 42k miles on it and we both have had to take the exact same amount of trips to the dealer for problems: 0.
