Cool

HI!... STEEDA make's a timing adjuster for the MUSTANG 4.6. One of the FORD magazines installed one on a 5.4 that was transplanted into a MUSTANG GT. The got pretty good results with it. Don't run it in conjunction with a chip unless it's a custom tune to take the new timing into account.

Thanks guys! Did they have to make any modifications to it to make the 4.6 ones work on the 5.4?

Here is how it works;
The crankshaft position sensor is relocated outside of the front cover using a special bracket. An adjustable trigger wheel is installed on the crankshaft. This trigger wheel has slots that allow the wheel to be rotated on its mount changing the location that sensor picks up the signal. It is an external pick up so any crap from the road can get on the sensor and trigger wheel.

IMHO If you already have a chip you are kind of wasting your money. Unless you race and require more timing at the track or are running lots of boost or nitrous and want to retard timing then you don't realy need this. A properly tuned chip/flip chip can do all of this for you without the hassle of unscrewing/readjusting the wheel every time you want to change timing.

I have one, and i have a chip, i just still have not installed it yet on my 4.6, i have the microtuner and the timing is set way low so i'm gonna crank it up with this, then when i run juice should i feel like it, i can retard my timing and be safe.
